A widowed veteran gets the shock of her life in this impossible-to-put-down thriller from the bestselling author and creator of the hit Netflix drama The Stranger.

In the course of eight consecutive #1 New York Times bestsellers, millions of readers have discovered Harlan Coben’s page-turning thrillers, filled with his trademark edge-of-your-seat suspense and gut-wrenching emotion. In Fool Me Once, Coben once again outdoes himself....

Former special ops pilot Maya, home from the war, sees an unthinkable image captured by her nanny cam while she is at work: her two-year-old daughter playing with Maya’s husband, Joe - who was brutally murdered two weeks earlier. The provocative question at the heart of the mystery: Can you believe everything you see with your own eyes, even when you desperately want to? To find the answer, Maya must finally come to terms with deep secrets and deceit in her own past before she can face the unbelievable truth about her husband - and herself.

So far, this is my favorite book by Harlan Coben. There are flawed characters, tangled lives and plot surprises! January Lavoy is one of my favorite narrators.

Wow! I definitely didn't see that ending coming!
The story was a bit weird in that I was never quite sure what to think or in which direction it would go. I like Cobin stories, but I am uncertain where this one ranks against the rest.... Maybe somewhere in the middle...? It's not a bad story or a good story, but it was entertaining enough to hold my interest.
The narration was good, but I do recommend listening at 2.25x speed because the pauses between phrases can be a bit long.

I didn't see the ending coming...😳

I couldn't stop listening to this audiobook, forced to sleep 6 hours before resuming it and ending it.

Maya's character manages very strong and consistent from the beginning to the end, her military background makes her be aware of her entire surroundings through and through. The entire story is very well written with the mystery flowing in each page.

I loved the narrator's voice, except the skipped some parts of the book (yep I have the hard copy too).

I just discovered Harlan Coben's work and songar I'm hooked.

I’m generally a huge Harlan Coben fan, however this book was just ok. The writing was not characteristic of his other older novels. Kinda a hokey, clunky and lots of repetition (“3 choices, 2 choices, etc.)
