Great for defeating the negative voice

Benny is certainly full of positivity for language learning. If you struggle with the negative voice in your head that says you can’t learn a foreign language - this book is for you. Benny is able to combat the reasons why many learners struggle - their own negativity. There is no lack of solid info in this book but there is nothing earth shattering or mind blowing here. It’s a good book and it’s certainly helped me on my language learning journey in that I now know I can do it - but I don’t think it’s really given me tips and tricks that are going to give me a boost or edge. It certainly won’t allow me to learn a language quickly and efficiently, “in half the time”, or anything like that. It’s fluffy, but it serves a crucial purpose to inflate positivity and “pats on the back” if you’re a negative Nancy.

I think what I really desire and haven’t found yet anywhere I look is a comprehensive and clearly outlined language learning method that isn’t vague or fluffy. Just a no nonsense clearly articulated download. These polyglots clearly know something, but they struggle to teach it. Savant learner ≠ savant teacher. Benny actually is a decent teacher though - don’t get me wrong. I’m just speculating that many polyglots have forgotten what it’s like to be a beginner language learner and monolingual. Anyway, good luck and I hope you find what you’re looking for.

Good advice

Good advice for a beginner to foreign language learning. Ive been studying languages for a while so already knew most of this content but still found some good bits of advice.

The spark I needed to become a real polyglot.

Practical information to unleash the inner polyglot that resides in us all. I'm inspired to learn at least 2 more languages.

Great suggestions and ideas on how to learn a language!

If you’re looking to learn a new language, I can’t recommend this book enough. I’ve read other books in language learning and this one is so helpful and direct with practical advice I’ve seen work on myself and others. I’m working on becoming fluent in Portuguese to speak with my father-in-law, located in Brazil. This book helped accelerate some of that learning.

Great Tips, But Still Comes Down to "Do the Work"

I've been following "Benny the Irish Polyglot" at his blog for a few months now, and this book is essentially all of his great hints and tips in one place, put together so you don't have to hunt for them. He's living proof that learning to speak multiple languages CAN happen, but he'll also tell you that fluency in 3 months requires 3 or more hours per day. If you don't need "mastery" or don't have that kind of time commitment, a slower pace will still get you where you're looking to be with dedication in the time frame you do have. If nothing else, dispelling the myths, addressing concerns, and providing a positive platform for beginners are what Benny does best. That's what this book is all about.

Excellent introduction to language learning.

What did you love best about Fluent in 3 Months?

I enjoyed Benny's practical approach to language learning. As someone who has learned English as a second language out of necessity, I had wanted to learn another language for a while now but could never find the proper approach when I wasn't required to know the language to survive in a different country. His book has inspired a genuine interest in learning French.

What did you like best about this story?

Benny debunks the myths of language learning and proceeds to give tips and advice on how to continue. He also notes that his approach is not the only or best method to learn a language. He encourages his listeners to experiment and try out different methods to reach that goal.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes. Though work and life got in the way. I finished in roughly two sittings.

Any additional comments?

A great introduction to where to start with language learning.
