About this listen

Celebrate the 40th anniversary of the enduring gothic masterpiece Flowers in the Attic - the unforgettable forbidden love story that earned V.C. Andrews a fiercely devoted fan base and became an international cult classic.

At the top of the stairs there are four secrets hidden - blond, innocent, and fighting for their lives....

They were a perfect and beautiful family - until a heartbreaking tragedy shattered their happiness. Now, for the sake of an inheritance that will ensure their future, the children must be hidden away out of sight, as if they never existed. They are kept in the attic of their grandmother’s labyrinthine mansion, isolated and alone. As the visits from their seemingly unconcerned mother slowly dwindle, the four children grow ever closer and depend upon one another to survive both this cramped world and their cruel grandmother. A suspenseful and thrilling tale of family, greed, murder, and forbidden love, Flowers in the Attic is the unputdownable first novel of the epic Dollanganger family saga.

The Dollanganger series includes: Flowers in the Attic, Petals in the Wind, If There Be Thorns, Seeds of Yesterday, Garden of Shadows, Beneath the Attic, and Out of the Attic.

Great story

But skip the foreword if you’ve never heard of the story. It’s a spoiler for the entire book.

As Good as I remember

I read this book so many times growing up that it’s ridiculous. But unfortunately I read it so many times that my book fell apart so I was considering getting a new one but I don’t have the time to sit down and read a book.
The voice actress did phenomenal. I do wish there was a male actor to voice Chris but she did alright voicing him as much as a woman can to voice a young man. The story is amazing. It’s full of twists and turns that you don’t expect. It’s full of emotion. I wish the second book was on here...

Wonderful narration, disturbing story

30 years ago an old girlfriend told me that she had come across this book and got hooked on the series. She told me the story and I remember being a bit repulsed and curious as to why she would be interested in such a disturbing and frankly disgusting tale. We didn't talk much about it as she read through the series because my reaction was ignorant as my appreciation for storytelling had not yet matured. Well I happened to come across this 2 days ago and I am now going to be searching for the next volume because yes this is a very dark story but it is so well written that I feel like I know these characters personally and I need to know what happens when they try to pick up the broken pieces now that they have found the light.
PS: I think Mena Suvari is perfect for this narration

A story to remember.

I have read this series several times since 2000, when my mom gave me the first book. parts of this story stay with me, like always pairing red and purple, or how I feel about yellow and oranges.
