About this listen

Florrie Buckley is an orphan living on the wind-blasted moors of Cornwall. It's a hard existence, but Florrie is content; she runs wild in the mysterious landscape. She thinks her destiny is set in stone.

But when Florrie is 14, she inherits a never-imagined secret. She is related to a wealthy and notorious London family: the Graces.

Overnight Florrie's life changes, and she moves from country to city, from poverty to wealth. Cut off from everyone she has ever known, Florrie struggles to adapt while learning the rules of a strange new world. And then she must try to fathom her destructive pull towards the enigmatic and troubled Turlington Grace, a man with many dark secrets of his own.

Wise and wonderful

A beautiful book set in the wild Cornwall and the rigid , dark London. A tale of love and life, joy and sorrow, but a bigger tale of how each person fits into the wholeness of life. Good performance.

I couldn't stop listening!

After reading Amy Snow, I was hooked and had to hear more from Tracy Rees. I'm so glad that I pre-ordered this because I was not disappointed. I stayed hooked on the timeline and felt like I was there with Florence along her journey through rich and poor. It also came with valuable life lessons and tugged at the heartstrings. MUST READ! :)

A lovely story.

As cozy as a crackling fire on a rainy day. A cup of tea, curled up in an easy chair, the story sweeps you along on the lilting, lovely voice of the narrator.

fabulous

Wow, what a wonderful book! So fresh and imaginative and so real. Characters had tremendous depth. The narrator is EXTREMELY talented as well. I couldnt imagine one without the other. I look forward to more historical fictions from this time period by this author. Amy snow is favorite too of course.

Beautifully Written

No doubt about it, Tracy Rees is an exquisite writer & Imogen Church a wonderful narrator. Good story although I didn't enjoy some of the plot turns as I did with "Amy Snow."

Fabulous narration. Wished for a different ending.

Beautifully written, beautifully narrated. Really enjoyed this book...until the end, I wasn’t a fan of the ending. I actually love emotional, heart wrenching endings, and would have preferred something more raw and emotional and less tidy. But alas, I’m not the author nor the editor.

Loved the story

IThe concepts and values that everyone struggles with are brought forth in this book. They are presented through the eyes of a reflective character(Florence) There are lessons to be plucked from this book, and lovely examples of a resolved and peaceful life after many trials and tribulations.

A captivating read!

Captivating, delightful, thought provoking, stirring! Loved the writing with wonderful analogues and prose! As for the narrator- she has moved to the top of my favorites list. She painted a picture of the characters she portrayed. Such feeling and understanding of every character in the book. I highly recommend this book and narrator to all audible listeners who appreciate this genre.
