REESE’S BOOK CLUB PICK | INSTANT NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER

“This fast-paced read has everything you could want in a thriller: secret identities, a mysterious boss and a cat & mouse game that kept me guessing the whole way through.”—Reese Witherspoon

Evie Porter has everything a nice, Southern girl could want: a perfect, doting boyfriend, a house with a white picket fence and a garden, a fancy group of friends. The only catch: Evie Porter doesn’t exist.

The identity comes first: Evie Porter. Once she’s given a name and location by her mysterious boss Mr. Smith, she learns everything there is to know about the town and the people in it. Then the mark: Ryan Sumner. The last piece of the puzzle is the job.

Evie isn’t privy to Mr. Smith’s real identity, but she knows this job will be different. Ryan has gotten under her skin, and she’s starting to envision a different sort of life for herself. But Evie can’t make any mistakes—especially after what happened last time.

Because the one thing she’s worked her entire life to keep clean, the one identity she could always go back to—her real identity—just walked right into this town. Evie Porter must stay one step ahead of her past while making sure there’s still a future in front of her. The stakes couldn't be higher—but then, Evie has always liked a challenge...

Kept my interest!!

Liked the various characters and kept my interest. Not super cheesy like some books in this genre can be—good narration and interesting plot.

Fabulous story

Loved the character development and plot as well as how it is woven as a story. Also appreciated that there wasn't a need to have graphic sexual details to forward the narrative. Very well done!

Great story, great performance!

I listened to the Audible. It’s a great book and has an interesting plot. It got a little slow in the middle but redeemed itself around chapter 20. Once it picks up, it doesn’t slow down - twisting and turning all the way until the end, fortunately the story leaves the reader/listener feeling resolved. Also Saskia does a fantastic job performing all the varied southern accents. Great listen!

Phenomenal all the way through

Can’t say enough about this book. It had everything. Amazing the way the story weaves through different events at different times and is never confusing; just thoroughly enjoyable. Loved it. I’d call it a “must” read/listen.

Favorite book of 2024!

Ok, so it’s only January, BUT…this was one of the best books I’ve read (listened) to in a while! Non-stop and the narrator was great. I’m having book withdraws currently and would love to see these characters again.

Love a good twist

The plot just kept getting thicker and thicker. I almost expected something more at the end but this was well executed. I could see this on the big screen! Narrators were awesome.

Better than expected!

What a fun ride! This is a well thought out book, I’ll just bet that there is a killer outline in the author’s filling cabinet. Cloak and dagger with flawed yet lovable characters. The story is brought to life beautifully by the narrator.
