Publisher's summary

The first, epic and true story of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s life together, finally revealing why they chose to pursue a more independent path and the reasons behind their unprecedented decision to step away from their royal lives, from two top royal reporters who have been behind the scenes since the couple first met.

When news of the budding romance between a beloved English prince and an American actress broke, it captured the world’s attention and sparked an international media frenzy. But while the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have continued to make headlines—from their engagement, wedding, and birth of their son Archie to their unprecedented decision to step back from their royal lives—few know the true story of Harry and Meghan.

For the very first time, Finding Freedom goes beyond the headlines to reveal unknown details of Harry and Meghan’s life together, dispelling the many rumors and misconceptions that plague the couple on both sides of the pond. As members of the select group of reporters that cover the British Royal Family and their engagements, Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand have witnessed the young couple’s lives as few outsiders can.

With unique access and written with the participation of those closest to the couple, Finding Freedom is an honest, up-close, and disarming portrait of a confident, influential, and forward-thinking couple who are unafraid to break with tradition, determined to create a new path away from the spotlight, and dedicated to building a humanitarian legacy that will make a profound difference in the world.

Thought it would be much juicer...

This book was a bit of a yawn, I’m sorry to say. I was looking forward to a not so biased account . I truly have much respect for them both buy would have liked more interesting facts not already known. Everything that was discussed is info I already know or have read. Nothing new here.

Delightfully Enlightening!

As a avid consumer of history and a change management advisor, my interest in reading this book was to gain insight into how this very modern couple would bend the arch of change within the Royal family and impacts not only to the “Firm” and British institution, the British people and to the wider global community. The authors have accomplished their goals and more. I love Harry and Meghan’s strength and conviction and know that time and space will allow them, their families and the people around them to call the world their home. The ties that binds Harry in particular will be as forceful and loud as a crashing wave to bring him home eventually. Win-win with love and duty! There is no place like home even when abroad!

Finding your voice

H &M
I am so glad you were allowed to share your side of the story through this book finding freedom. I am sure it was liberating and helped you heal from your difficult circumstances. Everyone in this life should take the opportunity to stand up for what is right. There are consequences but sometimes it is necessary for our mental health to be heard.
I hope you can go back to be working royals because together you are both a power house of change. You are driven to make a difference and I hope the king will appreciate and know how much you can do for the world. I hope your skills can be channeled in a positive way within the structure of the royal family. It would amazing to see what you both could do if you get re-instated.
They did the PR for Camilla and they can do it for you both as well. Your children need to receive their titles as this will be the olive leaf for healing.
Go back to your jobs as working Royal but with a vision, new wisdom and fresh eyes. The world will love you for it!

Wonderful concise and well written book.

Dog Days Are Over

I am very pleased they got out of the UK and to the US when they did. Now they can live a life of their choosing.

An absolute page turner!

It’s disheartening to see comments about how this is a “poor me” type of book and perspective. What this book offers, in my opinion, is the unfortunate truth of what two people in love had to endure, while together and prior to that. Shaming them for “breaking tradition” or “modernizing the Royal family”. Does anyone know that when Princess Diana died in 1997, it was Charles who pushed for the Queen to make a public statement, with the intention of modernizing the traditions or rules set in place? Does anyone care to see how a human being, having their entire life planned out for them, could seriously affect their mental state? Or for any newcomer, with no intention to change or compromise the traditions set in place, could also be affected by being completely slandered solely due to her race and upbringing? If you don’t see any of that, then clearly your own views are skewed and not the other way around.

This book is eye-opening and unapologetic about the realities of being a royal and what comes with it. So, for that, I thank the authors for bringing to light just another example that, not only the United States, but the world has A LOT of work to do in terms of acceptance of others different from themselves.

My ONLY complaint was the misinformation being narrated by the author versus what was printed in the actual book. I.e. Diana died in 1997 versus him saying in 1996 and the boys’ nanny resigned in 1999 versus 1997.

Enjoyed the book but after spare a few inaccuracies

I enjoyed the book. Most information documented was in line with the book Spare.
However those things not inline only validates
Harry and Meghan account. They needed to keep secret why they left, where they were going in March 2020. However I would recommend reading this book. The trolls that said differently are apart of the group that hates Harry and Meghan or just dishonest.
