About this listen

When soccer all-star Jax Avery collides with Dani Hart on his 21st birthday, their connection is instantaneous and explosive. For the first time in years, Jax isn't interested in his usual "hit it and quit it" approach. But Dani knows better. Allowing herself a night to be carefree and feel the intensity of their attraction won't change anything when it comes to dealing with a player. So when Jax doesn't recognize Dani the next time he sees her, it shouldn't be a total shock. The fact that he's her new roommate's brother? That's a shock.

Dani doesn't regret that night with Jax, just the need to lie about it. Since her roommate has made it clear what she thinks about her brother's "type" of girl, the last thing Dani wants is to admit what happened.

Jax knows he's walking a fine line on the soccer team. One more misstep and he's off the roster, his plans to go pro be damned. Except he can't seem to care. About anything...except for the one girl who keeps invading his dreams. Despite Jax's fuzzy memory of his hot hookup with his sister's friend, he can't stay away from her, even if that means breaking his own rules. But there are bigger forces at work - realities that can end Dani's college career and lies that can tear them apart. Jax realizes what he's losing if Dani walks away, but will he sacrifice his future to be with her? And will she let him if he does?

Another good one

Good listen and well worth the credit.
I wasn't ready for it to end. This book is complete enough but I would have liked it more if Jax dealt with his pass and mother. After listening to the first book in the series the bar was set high for me. I was really excited that this one was from a 2 person POV but it seemed to lack the details that did not include the other character. With that said it's still a good story I just didn't get emotionally invested in what each character was going through and feeling.

Aww I really liked this one

Oh Jax and Dani were cute. This one follows Jax, Clementine's sister and her roommate Dani. Some of the events of this book take place at the same time as Dearest Clementine. Dani was a really cool character and I loved the way she was written. It was great to learn new things about her throughout the book and see how personality and interests drew Jax to her. Don't get wrong, Jax acted like a typical dumb boy, but I understand why he was so paranoid about getting into relationships. His parents are also a piece of work. I liked this one for sure. Arielle is great. She has a nice soft tone to her voice and she totally nailed the part when Dani gets hit and is all drugged up in painkillers. Loved those scenes. Nelson Hobbs voice is just perfect for a character like Jax. It doesn't sound so mature like I'm listening to man in his late 20's early 30's, but a young man. Well worth the listen.

Enjoyable story

This was a great book 3/4 of the way through. It dragged some at the end after the two finally got together, but well worth a credit. Loved the narration!

Lex M did it again!

I loved the storyline- the humor and the angst. This is my first time hearing these narrators and they got it done. I recommend this book!

Packs some emotional punches!

What an incredible book! I was not expecting quite this level of emotion but holy cat’s was it ever worth the ride!

I thought I’d loved Clementine and Gavin from Dearest Clementine, and I did, don’t get me wrong, but there was something about Jax and Dani that just took it to the next level for me. Maybe it’s as simple as the fact that I am powerless against a reformed bad boy. Maybe it’s just that their story was so lovely, full of sparky banter and playful flirting. Maybe it’s that my heart can’t resist these emotional punches no matter how bruised it winds up in the end.

In any case, I adored this story! And it was another delightful auditory experience as well. The narration was flawless and I lost myself in it for hours at a time. Definitely recommend!

Tearjerker

Went into the book with low expectations but was hooked at the start and really enjoyed the story line. Characters were well developed and had spicy chemistry. What I didn’t expect all the tears 😭. Story had a mix of lightheartedness along with quite a bit of angst. Overall, it’s a moody story with a lot of negative inner monologues. I wouldn’t use a credit but think it’s worth the time to listen.

The performance is more of a 3.5-4. I don’t leave low stars …. The male voice is good- a little dry. The female’s voice fit for the character’s age but is so high pitched I got annoyed listening to her and would have to turn the volume down to tolerate. I thought her male voice was better than the female voice. Maybe I’m getting old :)
