About this listen

Bentley

Growing up, my parents were the embodiment of love.
The perfect example of soulmates, and with that ideal, I couldn't wait to find my true love.
What I didn't realize was just because you love someone, it doesn't mean they’re capable of loving you back.

The day I met her, my entire world shifted on its axis and I knew she was the one.
The problem was, how do you convince someone they’re your soulmate when they don't even believe in love?
There was a time I believed that love truly conquered all, but now I'm losing Faith.

Kayla

My mom once said, "Love isn't concrete. It's an emotion, and emotions are abstract. They change. You don't make decisions based on something abstract because if you do, you’re setting yourself up for failure."
I didn't understand her words at the time. I was young and in love, and if you had asked me to define what I was feeling, it would’ve consisted of words such as affection, warmth, happiness, butterflies, happily ever after.
Now, after experiencing heartbreak firsthand, my definition of love is a bit different. It consists of words like messy, heartbreak, waste of time, unrealistic, fake.
Until I met him. He reminded me of all the words love felt like before my heart was broken.
He wanted to show me the beauty in the abstract, but all I could see was the concrete.

Secrets, secrets everywhere...

I needed this book pretty bad after reading Liz‘s book, and it does not disappoint. If you read this after book 1, some of it will be repetitive, but it’s in a different character’s POV and not dull, IMO.

Very broken heroine.
Unplanned pregnancy.
Parents I loved to hate.
Secret billionaire.
Third-act break-up.
Misunderstandings & miscommunications.

Overall:
Another cute one from Ash–4 stars!

Loved Bentley!

Fighting with Faith is book 2 in the Fighting series. It’s a second chance, secret pregnancy romance.

Bentley and Kayla had an intense connection from first meet. He fell first, but Kayla’s troubled past left her jaded and not looking for love. I loved how patient and sweet he was and so happy they were able to overcome their obstacles. Plenty of drama, emotion and steamy moments in this book. I enjoyed their found family and cannot wait for Caleb’s story!

Auri Alden and Theo Sinclair did a really nice job bringing these characters to life.

Secret Pregnancy...

Fighting with Faith is book #2 in the "Fighting" series. It's a second chance, secret pregnancy romance.

Bentley and Kayla's story was messy, and and an emotional roller coaster ride at times, but their bond was so strong in the end. I feel what Bentley did at one part was unnecessary and made him look bad and not at all like he was in love with Kayla. I feel that part took away from the story a bit. However all in all it was an enjoyable book.

Auri Alden and Theo Sinclair did an amazing job portraying these characters. They really brought them to life.

Bentley and Kayla

I love this series and will always recommend it. Bentley and Kayla are the epitome of opposites. He came from a warm and loving home, she came from a home that viewed love as a tax break. Bentley wanted forever and Kayla wanted to run she could never trust herself or love. Those two things almost cost her everything.

Nikki definitely made it a angsty road to get to their happily ever after but she will always get you there so you can never go wrong. Auri and Theo did a fantastic job with the narration. It was a very smooth and easy listen. I enjoyed it and cannot wait for the next one.

A test of true love!

It's great to read a book where the hero is not only alpha but 100% sure of his feelings for the girl right from the get go!She is sassy and fearless except when it comes to loving someone. Can he get her to see that love really can exist and get over her childhood experiences? That fairytales can become reality? Even with an unplanned pregnancy? Theo Sinclair brought out all the love, commitment and determination in Bentley’s character. Auri Alden was new to me but I really enjoyed listening to her. Great narration duo. Cant wait for the next book.

You just have to have faith

This book was very relatable and the story was great! Good character development and loved getting glimpse of the previous couple! The build up was good, and the story flowed well. Had a small cliff hanger but it was the opening for the next book and couple.

Narration was great. Had to start the next book right away!

He Falls First

Bentley and Kayla had to work hard to find a HEA. Kayla and Bentley grew up with completely different views of love being shown/taught to them. Bentley is the golden retriever in this one and I have to say I was there for it. I hated how Kayla broke his heart even if not on purpose but once they finally got things figured this family and HEA were well worth the ride! This was a quick listen and narrators did a great job.

Ahhh...another 5 star book

This was a reread for me, but in audiobook form and I absolutely loved it the same.

The fighting series follows a group of friends and what happens in their worlds as they all fall in love. This story is about Kayla and Bentley.

Kayla and Bentley met one night years ago and at the end of the night Kayla leaves him on the beach alone and she's never to be seen again...or so they thought. Years later, their best friends fall in love after finding one another again and then Kayla and Bentley of course wind up running into each other again. Bentley decides that fate has put them here and they belong together. Unfortunately, Kayla has always had a jaded view on love ever since she got her heart broken in high school and then her parents insistence that true love doesn't exist and marriage is meant to be like a business transaction...more along the lines of how can we help each other be successful. Bentley tries his hardest to convince Kayla that love exists and they were meant for each other, but it's like talking to a brick wall. Eventually, he gives up and Kayla goes back home without telling anyone to hide a secret from them all.

When Bentley finds out that she's pregnant with his child, he goes on a mission to make her believe in them and what they could have. In the process, Kayla tries to keep her feelings locked up, but it's very difficult with how persistent and sweet Bentley is. She flies back to Las Vegas for their best friend's wedding and something happens that causes Kayla to stay in town for an extended period....Bentley knows this is his last chance and the perfect opportunity to have Kayla finally decide to choose him and their family and stay. Can he convince her??

I absolutely love this series and the segue it gives to some of the other series that Nikki writes. Definitely worth the read and the narrators did such an amazing job representing these characters and bringing them to life. And don't worry, a HEA is involved! :)

Since book 1 I've been desperate for this story

Since book 1 I've been desperate for Bentley and Kayla to get their HEA. I knew it would be a rough, rocky, and heartbreaking road for them because Kayla was so jaded and her parents' influence...I mean are they robots?? But I wasn't quite prepared for Bentley to rip my heart to shreds...that man is the sweetest, most loving, and caring man she could ask for...and he was hurt so much, tearing my heart strings...and I'm sure Theo Sinclair's narration aided in my reaction because he did such an amazing job bringing Bentley's emotions to life. I understood Kayla's perspective, but that didn't stop me from wanting to go a few rounds with her in the ring for Bentley. We learn more about them as the story bounces back and forth between years past and present day, showing their tumultuous journey...jeeze the angst. But finally they end up where they belong and happy. Narration was terrific.

Bentley and Kayla

3.5/5 ⭐
2.0/5 🌶️
4.0/5 🎧

I loved Bentley and Kayla to pieces, and little Faith was adorable. I really adored their relationship and how much Bentley loved his girls. Her past and her fear of love broke my heart and I was so happy Bentley was able to show her what love truly was.

Like 90% of this book was so good, but that third act breakup made me irrationally angry... I just didn't understand Bentley not listening to Kayla and giving her even a second to explain. It didn't feel like it was really him and I would have much preferred a third act more directly involving her crap parents.

The audio was great. Theo Sinclair did a great job and I loved Auri Alden. Listening to these two bring Nikki's characters to life was a real joy.
