A serial killer is targeting teenagers, and clinical psychologist Tony Hill and DCI Carol Jordan are on the cases, which initially don’t appear related. Good backstory on Tony’s mother. You probably need to already love the characters to love this, but I do, enough so that I immediately started the next in the series as soon as I finished. Bechdel test: Pass.

I like to follow series. This is probably the most consistent in quality story to story. Thus far not a dud in the lot. I gave this one a 4 but for me they all come very close to 5 stars. I highly recommend this series for extended reading.

Great Series

I enjoyed this one as much as some of the earlier books. It was a bit out there when it came to being plausible, but I didn't really mind. Good back story on Tony Hill and his parents, which were my favourite parts.

This is Val at her best. Wonderful story and breathtaking suspense. It helps that Gerard Doyle’s performance is pitch-perfect. Well worth a listen.

Absolutely brilliant!

did grasp the elements of the conclusion early in the story. However, the telling and twists if the unraveling plot fixated my attention. McDermid's details and descriptions are a masterful example of this genre.

Any additional comments?

These books go into more detail than the show ever could and the performances are spot-on. Well rounded stories I listened to more than once, like a favorite pop song.

This is no doubt one of McDermid's best. A well woven story integrating a contemporary theme regarding childbirth, parenting.
