Very Insightful Book
Although I don't usually write reviews, I feel compelled to share my thoughts on this book. As someone who has read a fair share of self-help books, I found this one to be particularly impactful. The author's approach is refreshingly simple and different from anything else I've read on the topic of healing past traumas or emotions.
Many of us carry a lifetime of unresolved traumas that cause us to live in fear, avoidance, and other negative emotions. The author explains how these traumas build up over time and manifest as emotional reactions triggered by current events. These emotional reactions then lead to discomfort and a need for problem-solving, which doesn't address the underlying source of suffering.
Instead of analyzing and fixing past traumas, the author suggests a new approach to healing. He encourages readers to acknowledge and feel their emotions as they come up, rather than suppressing them for later. This way, the emotions are not buried and can be dealt with in a healthy way. The key is to feel the emotion (don't bury it) but then move on and he gives you ways to do that.
The author's approach is explained in a clear and concise manner, making it easy to understand and apply in everyday life. I found his ideas to be thought-provoking and impactful, and I believe that anyone dealing with unresolved traumas could benefit from reading this book.
In addition to the book, the author offers a course that provides further guidance and support for those looking to heal. I highly recommend this book and the accompanying course to anyone looking for a different approach to dealing with negative thoughts and emotions. Quite a disappointment!
The book is a collection of incomprehensible and often incomplete and contradictory thoughts For example it states”…masculine toxicity is rampant…” with no further reference to the statement. It states it’s opinion about people and concepts as unarguable facts. I painfully listened to the end in hopes at some point it would make sense, but it did not. I did however hear strings of commercials for the authors books and services in the middle of text. I ended the audio confused and irritated but grateful I have read dozens of books on psychology so that I still value it’s worth in most cases. The Reader had a condescending and “know all” pompous manner that made listening to the material more painful. I really dislike giving a review, particularly like this one, but feel compelled to do so to encourage others to pick an alternate audio book. It is rare one is this bad(I have over 400 audio books in my library) and I have only once besides this written a poor review.
