About this listen

Fatally Bound... by one decision with deadly consequences.

Hannah opened the backdoor of her house and walked inside, closing the door behind her and locking it. Out of the dark his massive left arm wrapped around her chest like a vice followed by his right hand pressing a soaked rag to her face. Gasping for air she breathed in the fumes from the rag. She convulsed and thrashed but the man was immense and she couldn't break free.

Fatally Bound... by one killer with deadly intentions.

A brilliant, methodical, and vicious killer is on a mission leaving a trail of women's bodies behind with little or no evidence. The hunt for the killer will put Mac McRyan and Dara Wire in harm's way testing their partnership, resolve and endurance like never before.

Fatally Bound... A suspenseful and nerve-fraying murder mystery with an ingenious plot.

NY Times and USA Today best-selling author, Roger Stelljes has crafted another addictive pulse-pounding thriller filled with his trademark twists and turns. Vince Flynn described Roger Stelljes as a "powerful new thriller voice."

A good entry in this series. Exciting!

Would you listen to Fatally Bound again? Why?

Yes and the other books too.

What other book might you compare Fatally Bound to and why?

Other Mac McRyan books. Blood Silence, et al. The protagonist is suited to exciting assignments and predicaments. Resourceful.

Have you listened to any of Johnny Peppers’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes. Several in Renee Pawlish's Reed Ferguson P.I. mysteries and several by other writers. He does a swell job on them all.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, but life had other plans so it took several sessions to finish.

Any additional comments?

Excellent Mystery and Suspense

Would you listen to Fatally Bound again? Why?

No. But, I would definitely read the entire McRyan Mystery series.

While the story was excellent, the narration was just ok. Mr. Peppers was great distinguishing the male voice from the female voice. Unfortunately for the listener, it was impossible to distinguish among the female voices (Sally, Wire, all the other females sounded exactly the same. Michel had a hint of a southern accent). Mr. Peppers had one voice for the stalker/judge/director (louder and gruff) and another for the remaining male characters (similar to the general narration voice). The listener really had to listen to all the details to figure out which characters were speaking in any particular scene. More silent pauses may have helped as well between scenes.

What did you like best about this story?

Overall great story. Mr. Stelljes hooked the reader from the very beginning and wanted us to keep turning the page until we reached the end.

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

Yes. Although there were limited character voices, Mr. Peppers kept the pace on spot for the telling of this mystery/suspense.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, because of the excellent storyline not the narration. The narration was borderline taking away from the overall listening experience. I rated the narration a 3 out of 5 only because I had such a hard time figuring out who was in a scene. I believe the strong writing kept the listener listening.

Excellent

Sally got her dream job, in Wash, so meant a move for them. Max didn’t hesitate making some decisions so he could follow with her. She working long hours, he tried to fill in his days. When asked to work a high profile case. Following Max thought’s was very well done, leading to how to find The Reaper. Will they stay in. Wash, or does one feel they prefer St.Paul. Another tense filled plot, trying to find the thread that connects the woman and to the killer.
The narration by Peppers was excellent he has the voice that added to this story. Given audio for my voluntary review and my honest opinion

If you could sum up Fatally Bound in three words, what would they be?

Intriguing, Intellectual, Dramatic

What was one of the most memorable moments of Fatally Bound?

Have you listened to any of Johnny Peppers’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No, Johnny Peppers did an amazing job of reading this story. He brings the characters to life and keeps the story flowing

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I don't want them to end!

Would you consider the audio edition of Fatally Bound to be better than the print version?

Another great performance by narrator Johnny Peppers! I tell everyone I know about this series. The stories are fantastic and the narration brings them to life. Read or listen to the books. They're fantastic.

What did you like best about this story?

This story was well thought out and the pieces fit together nicely.

Have you listened to any of Johnny Peppers’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This is another great performance by Johnny Peppers.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

This book bothered me a bit more than the previous books. I would not listen to this one at night.

Any additional comments?

I did not like Wire's character as much as I had previously. She seemed weaker and was less of a partner to Mac and more of a puppet for Sally.

A Pretty Good Crime Mystery

"Fatally Bound" was a good listen. It was somewhat frightening at times when the sicko had Hannah. This is the first book in the series that I've listened to but I think it was fine as a stand alone. There was a lot of story here as well as a lot of little details. That's what I liked about the author, Roger Stelljes' work. It was an overall decent story.

Johnny Peppers narration was good as the men characters but his woman's voices need some work. I can imagine it's probably difficult to pull off. Otherwise, I think he kept them all with distinct personas which is what really matters. He did a nice job.

Pretty good

got this book through Audioblast for an honest review.

I enjoyed it. I had not read any of the other books in the series but that was not necessary..

I enjoyed the main character who is a hard charging cop who has taken a leave of absence to be with his girlfriend in Washington DC. the parts with the relationship was okay but I enjoyed the solving of the murder more.

worth a listen I probably will not go back and listen to the earlier books but will get the next one.
the narrated was good too, lots of men voices but the narrator was able to keep them straight for me

Engrossing thriller

If you could sum up Fatally Bound in three words, what would they be?

Three words to describe this thriller are fast-paced, unpredictable and entertaining.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

From the first page to the last, I was drawn into this story. The plot and characters hooked me so strongly that I lost sleep, bumped into people at the grocery store because I had my earbuds in, and sat in my car until I came to a chapter break to make the dash into the house to keep listening on my tablet.

Any additional comments?

Mac McRyan has joined my list of favorite fictional sleuths - Stone Barrington, Lucas Davenport and Elvis Cole.
