About this listen
He’s an ex-superhero on a mission to save the world...and get hot chicks.
It’s the end of the 21st century, and Hunter McNeil is your average, ordinary, ex-Army Ranger with superpowers. He’s serving time unjustly in a Supermax for supervillains when a botched prison break puts him in the crosshairs of an Army general who runs the Super-Powered Combatants Corp.
Turns out a coordinated strike has put supervillains in charge of every major city in the world, and Hunter is the United States’ only hope at restoring order.
And so Hunter sets out to do what he does best: kill supervillains. Save the world. And build a harem of smokin’ hot, super-powered women to help him.
Warning: This book contains violence, profanity, and mature content. It also contains a harem of hot women. You have been warned.

Story
Growing up, she was the girl down the street. Even then, I knew she was different. She was tough, rough, and had the strength to stop a speeding car with her bare hands. We were as thick as thieves, sharing every adventure. Then one day she revealed a secret. She wasn't from Earth. She was from a distant place called the Arcadia Multiverse. Her people lived under the rule of a god-like entity known as the System. That System had its gaze fixed on Earth. And it was only a matter of time before it came for us.

Randold, better known as Rand, was no ordinary individual. Despite his best efforts, he possessed an extraordinary secret—he was a Super. Well, technically speaking, he belonged to that exceptional group, but he concealed his true nature from the world. For Rand possessed a remarkable ability to manipulate all forms of energy, even the Superpowers of others, a power that, if discovered, would undoubtedly land him in dire trouble with the government. The consequences ranged from imprisonment to something far worse.

Humanity stands at the brink of extinction. Earth has been bombarded by forces beyond our understanding. In the aftermath, monsters roam the Earth while humanity is forced into a few small safe zones, but not all is lost. When the shadows fell, so too did hope. Progentitor rays birthed a new breed of humans, known as supers. Now those few are all that stands between mankind and death upon the claws and fangs of monsters.

In a world full of super powers, Felix has a pretty crappy one. He has the ability to modify any item he owns. To upgrade anything. Sounds great on paper. Almost like a video game. Except that the amount of power it takes to actually change, modify, or upgrade anything worthwhile is beyond his abilities. With that in mind, Felix settled into a normal life. A normal job. His entire world changes when the city he lives in is taken over by a super villain. Becoming a country of one city. A city state.

Who in their right mind tells both his lawyer and the judge presiding over his murder trial, “F--k you!” while still in the courtroom? No one, right? Yeah, you’d be wrong about that. I did. You’d say the same thing if you were just found guilty of a murder you didn’t commit, though. Call me crazy for going off like that in court, but trust me, you don’t know crazy until you see what happened next.

Have you ever felt like there was something inside of you pushing your actions? A dormant beast, so to speak. I know it sounds crazy. But, that’s the best way I could describe how I’ve felt for a long time. I thought it was normal, some animal part of the human brain that lingered from evolution. But, this is the story of how I learned I wasn’t exactly human, and there was a world underneath our own where all the things that go bump in the night live. And, that my beast was very real indeed.

A young, naïve but ultimately courageous hedge knight, Ser Duncan the Tall towers above his rivals—in stature if not experience. Tagging along is his diminutive squire, a boy called Egg—whose true name is hidden from all he and Dunk encounter. Though more improbable heroes may not be found in all of Westeros, great destinies lay ahead for these two . . . as do powerful foes, royal intrigue, and outrageous exploits. Featuring more than 160 all-new illustrations by Gary Gianni, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is a must-have collection that proves chivalry isn’t dead—yet.

Have you ever woken up, rolled over, and thought to yourself, “I’m pretty sure I’m working for a Super Villain.” If you haven’t, then maybe you’re not the type of person to work for a global corporation. When people started to develop superpowers, the world changed forever. Me? I wasn't one of the lucky ones with powers. So I had to develop more mundane skills, skills which have taken me across the globe on dangerous missions. But there are some missions I’ve always had to refuse. I've never been able to take on a super. They're just too powerful. They're gods, whereas I'm just a man, even with all my knowledge and training. All that changes after I discover my dad's secret research project.

Story
Minalan gave up a promising career as a professional warmage to live the quiet life of a village spellmonger in the remote mountain valley of Boval. It was a peaceful, beautiful little fief, far from the dangerous feudal petty squabbles of the Five Duchies, on the world of Callidore. There were cows. Lots of cows. And cheese. For six months things went well: He found a quaint little shop, he befriended the local lord, the village folk loved him, he found a sharp young apprentice to help out, and, best yet, he met a comely young widow with the prettiest eyes.

Sergeant Harry Kabutt has seen better days. He's been shot down, blown up, and tossed to the wayside by the corporations, left to rot in a ratty apartment in gang territory. His own limbs? Shredded, cut away, and left to rot on a mountainside. The replacement mods? Likely to fall apart or leave him to die of sepsis. No longer an operator of the feared APS mecha, Kabutt has hit rock bottom. But he's on foot, he's armed, and he's in serious pain…now it's time to take that pain and spread it around the mega-city of Artem. See who flinches first.

over all a good harem and superhero
So I have listened to a few harem books at this point. generally I find there either good or to much.
This book I'll happily say is good. the action is fast and fun. for those it may bother the sex scenes in this are very graphic.
The world building isn't to bad I think I can be improved on and developed further. I also am hoping the big bad of the series wont be what I think but we will see.
I am relieved that the main character hunter has a interesting power that is not something superman ish or another booster of some kind. well his power been seen in other fiction before I am not sure if as a main character and he uses it in flexible and creative ways.
over all In general I enjoyed the book. The only thing i hope is improved or added to different is the women. The two in this one are great dont get me wrong, they have there own personality ect. however both felt....lacking in combat as well as never really taking the lead. I know odd to complain about in a harem but now with some good books of this type under my belt. I have found the books are just as much about the women then the main character (or reverse in case of reverse harem).
I know nova is green when it comes to it so made sense for her and yukio street girl and did contribute easier but even still both lacked a bit.
It be weird if the suddenly improved but I'd like to seem them begin to OR the next girl be very skilled from the get go.

Worth it
I was pleasantly supersized by how well the story and characters were written. the only way to improve the quality of this audiobook would be to have a female voice actor play the female roles. like superhero and harem this is a good addition to your collection.

Good read!!!
I enjoyed how the main character didn't have the regular cliche powers of shower strength flight. the story had a unique spin on a anti hero saving the world.

Entertaining but...
Story idea fun. Good pacing. Rollicking fight scenes. Sex scenes too detailed and unrealistic, do not add to entertainment.

For middle-school boys
Well-narrated mindless drivel, with explicit sex scenes so cliche and predictable that I wanted them to be over quickly not because I was offended, but because it was so puerile. (Like watching Michael say stupid things in The Office, I was embarrassed for the characters. But this was not intended as a comedy)
The characters are all unidimensional—unless you include the three dimensional descriptions of various body parts. It would be ok as simple-minded entertainment—nothing wrong with that. Not everything needs to be literature. But the sex scenes were too insipid to endure.

A grand way to tell this story.
First and foremost I would like to have it known that the first book of this series was a freebie awarded to me via my subscription to audible. That out of the way, this has been an absolute pleasure to listen to.
I have listened to quite a few Harem styled books and stories because it is an enjoyable genre. However, this first book touches on the more human aspect of what it could possibly be to be a superhero especially in a more modern day way of thinking.
The voice actor definitely brings across the male protagonist as just somebody who's fed up with all of this rules and regulations crap and truly brings across the I will get what I want or you don't get your planet back type of vibe.
I haven't acquired the other titles in this series yet. But I do sincerely hope that a female voice actor is added for their dialogue.

Eighth grade writing adult reader
The story was fun at first but it quickly became nothing more than a rather poorly written comic book. The reader was quite fun to listen to and there are moments that were downright comic but overall I got tired of listening to one description of a beautiful woman after another and being chased by a bad guy and fights with super powers. All got rather tedious after a while.
