About this listen

The most compelling scientific evidence for life beyond death ever compiled.

Evidence of the Afterlife shares the firsthand accounts of people who have died and lived to tell about it. Through their work at the Near Death Experience Research Foundation, radiation oncologist Jeffrey Long and his wife, Jody, have gathered thousands of accounts of near-death experiences (NDEs) from all over the world. In addition to sharing the personal narrative of their experiences, visitors to the website are asked to fill out a one hundred-item questionnaire designed to isolate specific elements of the experience and to flag counterfeit accounts.

The website has become the largest NDE research database in the world, containing over 1,600 NDE accounts. The people whose stories are captured in the database span all age groups, races, and religious affiliations and come from all over the world, yet the similarities in their stories are as awe-inspiring as they are revealing. Using this treasure trove of data, Dr. Long explains how medical evidence fails to explain these reports and why there is only one plausible explanation?that people have survived death and traveled to another dimension.

Facts vs. Quality of Listening

The facts that are shared are truly amazing and breathtaking in a way. However, the format and style of presenting "the story" is different from what I expected. It's all about statistics and a very factual attempt to convince the reader/listener to simply accept the significance of research and its conclusions. Everything sounds very trustworthy, but the way it is presented, makes it far less interesting and exciting to listen to. I was somehow disappointed, although I must admit that the stories which are shortly described are simply incredible.

Horrible Narration...

Would you try another book from Jeffrey Long and Paul Perry and/or Bob Dunsworth?

Not a narrated one.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

It was good.

What didn’t you like about Bob Dunsworth’s performance?

He pretty much sounded like a male version of Siri reading a book.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

No.

Any additional comments?

The book itself was good.

worthwhile read

Is there anything you would change about this book?

It was repetetive, and the reader didn't make clear transitions.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Evidence of the Afterlife: The Science of Near-Death Experiences?

Almost any of the stories of people's experiences - they were all very interesting.

Would you be willing to try another one of Bob Dunsworth???s performances?

depending on the topic, maybe.

Do you think Evidence of the Afterlife: The Science of Near-Death Experiences needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

Not really, but if there was a follow up I might be interested in it.

Any additional comments?

The take-home message of the book was well worth putting up with some repetition and wordiness with regard to the proofs.

Intriguing

Amazing evidence. Well written case for NDEs.
The narrator consistently mispronounced medical terminology unfortunately and I found it distracting!

A very good review of near-death experiences

How does a person born blind come back from a near-death experience and report having "seen" things....very curious....The best recommendation I can give this book is that after listening to it, I bought a paperback copy and read it the traditional way, and then pressed my friends into reading it. The arguments are very compelling if not convincing....Dr. Long has researched this phenomena since 1998....he has a lot of data that suggests that the NDE is not the result of a brain fooling a person. Well worth a look.

great book poor reader

The book is very well done. Lots of examples of NDE's as well as scientific interpretations of the evidence provided by the ndrf studies.

Too bad it was read by the guy who does the tornado warning public service announcements in exactly the same robotic yet urgent tone of voice. I felt a little anxious listening to this guy after a while.

Good science well presented

Would you consider the audio edition of Evidence of the Afterlife: The Science of Near-Death Experiences to be better than the print version?

Probably not because the author didn't read the work.

What other book might you compare Evidence of the Afterlife: The Science of Near-Death Experiences to and why?

Not sure, maybe Flipside by Richard Martini in that they both deal with the afterlife. Whereas that book is an amature-sh production, this one is a professional recording.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Bob Dunsworth?

Sure, but I find him too generic with a lack of character or personality.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No.

Any additional comments?

Audio books should be read by their authors.
