Publisher's summary

On the last ordinary day of her life, Abby Bennett feels like the luckiest woman alive. But everyone knows that luck doesn't last forever....

As her husband, Nick, and daughter, Lindsey, embark on a weekend camping trip to the Texas Hill Country, Abby looks forward to having some quiet time to herself. She braids Lindsey's hair, reminds Nick to drive safely and kisses them both goodbye. For a brief moment, Abby thinks she has it all - a perfect marriage, a perfect life - until a devastating storm rips through the region, and her family vanishes without a trace.

When Nick and Lindsey are presumed dead, lost in the raging waters, Abby refuses to give up hope. Consumed by grief and clinging to her belief that her family is still alive, she sets out to find them. But as disturbing clues begin to surface, Abby realizes that the truth may be far more sinister than she imagined. Soon she finds herself caught in a current of lies that threaten to unhinge her and challenge everything she once believed about her marriage and family.

With a voice that resonates with stunning clarity, Barbara Taylor Sissel delivers a taut and chilling mystery about a mother's love, a wife's obsession, and the invisible fractures that can shatter a family.

AWFUL

Would you try another book from Barbara Taylor Sissel and/or Gia St. Claire?

No

What could Barbara Taylor Sissel have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Added a real plotline?

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

boring from start to finish

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Evidence of Life?

most of them

Any additional comments?

the narrator had a decent style but the story was so lightweight, repetitive and boring. hopefully, no one else MISTAKES this for a mystery which is the category it was in.

Captivating

I enjoy thrillers once in a while and now I've found a great author in Barbara Taylor Sissel, when I'm in the mood to listen to one.
I enjoyed this book because its captivating and kept my interest throughout. It kept me interested enough to keep listening to find out the who, why, and when.
The narrations is distinct and it's always nice to find a good narrator and have often chosen books by following the narrator and not just the author of an audio book.
I look forward to listening to more of BTS's books.

TOO MUCH!

Okay.... I'm a woman and consider myself to be in touch with and able to express my deep feelings and like to hear about others' deep feelings. But, expression can get to the point of being too much! I became so sick and tired of hearing the constant whining of deep feelings, that I was ready to scream. This author can go on and on and on and on about small points from every single angle! Enough already - get to the story and quit the whining! I felt that the story was forced - that it was outlined and filler was contrived to meet the needs of the storyline. As far as a mystery/thriller - forget it. No real suspense and what little there was (maybe in the first couple of chapters).... I was to the point of not caring. The story dragged on way too long, was paced far too slow and Abby (the main character) was made to be silly, stupid and weak.

The narrator got on my nerves - too cutesy sounding and little-girl-like, which most of the time came across as whiny. This book was a waste of time and I wouldn't recommend it.
