Publisher's summary

Sexual healer and entrepreneur David P. Wichman has lived through it all: Childhood abuse, foster care, homelessness, survival sex work, and the blackest pits of drug and alcohol addiction. Despite the darkness, he found a profound sense of purpose as a male escort, but not the type of provider often seen in the news. His approach to sex work transcended common shame-based belief systems as he brought compassionate intimacy to marginalized men, including the elderly, disabled, and traumatized, illustrating a universal need for true connection.

After white-collar crime landed him in jail, David resolved to finally conquer the sense of brokenness that had been driving him to self-destruction throughout his life. In his moving memoir, he recounts how his recovery and spiritual journey have revealed to him his inherent wholeness and worth, a message of love and belonging that he now carries to others. Every Grain of Sand is a celebration of restoration to a life of joy, gratitude, and wonder.

Every Grain of Sand: A compelling memoir

David's memoir is very compelling and engaging. He tells his story in a way that draws his listeners in allowing his audience to reflect and find application for their own journey. Thank you David.

A prophetic journey through a modern hell leading toward new insight

I now understand better the lived realities of people I have seldom knowingly encountered, namely male sex workers, both the terrible and the sublime through a voice that feels prophetic and genuine. I have many questions still and while an extraordinary tale it seems to be uncompleted. May you continue on your path, David, and thank you for the honor of seeing your life so far.

Beautiful story

I’m not sure what I was expecting from this book. I came across it by accident. I did not expect to be inspired. There is usually two outcomes from growing up in an environment like David’s. Substance abuse, and addiction followed by death or followed by recovery. It’s the uniqueness of his recovery story and his ability to see what all humans need, connection and love. How he is able to share his love and connect with people and nature is why I loved this book.

Bravo to David and Heather for a job well done!!!

OMG, my mind is completely fried. This book took me on an emotional rollercoaster ride from beginning to end. Excitement, rage, grief, sadness, disappointment, compassion and bliss, I felt it all.

The beginning was particularly hard because I wanted him to win so badly. Which by the way is an indication of how well the book is written because I had the privilege of meeting David at the MindValley event he talks about in the book in March of 2019. He was one of the warmest, funniest, and realest person I had met at that event. So, I know that he had to have overcome many of the obstacles life threw at him as a young man trying to navigate his world. But still, as I read the book in real time, there were moments when I was filled with worry/concerns about the author’s fate. David’s voice captured my attention all throughout. The pacing was on point.

I think this book has the potential to inspire, motivate, educate, and heal all types of readers…Most importantly, the insights from this book can change the trajectory of some people’s lives for the better. I highly recommend Every Grain of Sand to everyone who’s looking to live a life of purpose.
