Publisher's summary

Escape is the first omnibus containing Escaping the Dead, Tales of the Forgotten, and Only the Dead Live Forever in one collection.

From the outbreak in Afghanistan to the struggles at sea, Brad and his comrades realize the war for humanity has only just begun. And there's no guarantee any of them will survive the long journey home....

Escaping the Dead: Alone in a foreign land. The radio goes quiet while on convoy in Afghanistan, a lost patrol alone in the desert. With his unit and his home base destroyed, Staff Sergeant Brad Thompson suddenly finds himself isolated and in command of a small group of men trying to survive in the Afghan wasteland. Every turn leads to danger. The local population has been afflicted with an illness that turns them into rabid animals. They pursue him and his men at every corner and stop. Struggling to hold his team together and unite survivors, he must fight and evade his way to safety.

Tales of the Forgotten: The world is at war with the Primal Virus. Military forces across the globe have been recalled to defend the homelands as the virus spreads and decimates populations. Out on patrol and assigned to a remote base in Afghanistan, Staff Sergeant Brad Thompson's unit was abandoned and left behind, alone and without contact. They survived and have built a refuge, but now they are forgotten. No contact with their families or commands. Brad makes a tough decision to leave the safety of his compound to try and make contact with the States, desperate to find a rescue for his men. What he finds is worse than he could have ever predicted.

Only the Dead Live Forever: The escape from Afghanistan was only the beginning. The trio survived the initial fall and thought they had reached safety, but find themselves once again abandoned and surrounded by the primals. Having no contact with their families or commands, they must fight to continue on....

Wiild Ride

This is the first three books in the Wiskey Tango Foxtrot series. It's essentially set in a zombie apocalypse and you are following Staff Sergeant Brad Thompson as he and other military survivors try to figure out what happened and where to go now that the world as they know it has come to an end. Brad meets several characters along the way during his travels. the author has a military background so he knows his facts. the characters don't act out of character for military trained men and women.

Starts strong...finishes meh

I was really getting into this omnibus audiobook when it started out. It was very interesting and the writing was well paced...then suddenly, it wasn't. The story seemed to DRAG for the last 40-45% of the audiobook. I already have the other two omnibus audiobooks so I hope the pacing and flow is "tuned up" or I may DNF them...

This is a perfect example of "write what you know"...not the "zombie" part, but the military side of it as the author was in the military at the time of writing these books (not sure if he still is now). Without his firsthand knowledge of military equipment, etc, this book would have FLOPPED (IMO).

Narration was done well. The narrator didn't standout as either good or bad...he blended in and let the story speak.
