About this listen

Over a thousand years ago a brave band of Knights of the Round Table agreed to enter Morganna’s castle and remove an ancient spell that allowed the sorceress the ability to travel in time. But they were betrayed and Morganna caught the young men and despite Merlin’s protection, cast a spell upon them that would age them a year for every day they lived as men. Merlin did the only thing he could; he changed the men to horses so they could roam as immortals until someone could break the spell.

For more than one thousand years, the Herdin family was charged with the duty to help the horses and break the spell. Once every hundred years, the signs aligned and another Herdin risked their life to free the knights. This time, Meaghan Herdin’s father, Lord John, is the last surviving male heir in the Herdin line. Will he be able to break the spell or will Morganna and her followers destroy Meaghan’s family?

Set in Ireland in the 18th century, Eochaidh - The Legend of the Horseman, is filled with love, adventure, loyalty and magic.

a very good beginning to a series

I wasn't sure what I thought when I first started listening. I lean toward books that have a bit more grittiness and this book didn't start out that way. It definitely got better though. I still wouldn't describe it as gritty but it had a lot more drama to it as the book progressed. The audiobook doesn't end in a way that might satisfy some but I thought it was a good place to stop, especially as this is a series. Cliffhanger, I'd say. But the listener/reader isn't left hanging. It was well done. I definitely want to listen to the rest of the series.

I liked the history/legend behind the story and the author's take on it. I've seen that her other series have quite a few books in them so here's hoping for the same for Legend of the Horsemen. Often there is a bit of timidity in the first book of a series but Terri Reid came out strong on this first one.

The narrator is quite skilled and did a fine straight reading. She does change her voice for each character so there is a distinction between them. I was thinking partway through, that I would have adored this book to have background sound effects. Nigel Peever does amazing sound effects with the books he works on.

I recommend this book and series and look forward to the next book.

Great Arthurian Legend!

This was a very fun book. And being a fan of Arthurian Legend era writings. Baroque writings and such... I found this very enjoyable! The author was good, well developed in storyline, and painted a pleasant picture. I look forward to more from this Author. The Narrator did an excellent job of bringing the characters to life.... This book was provided free of charge in exchange for a fair review of the book.... Thank You!

Loved it!

First Terri Reid book for me and I was truly impressed. The narration was equally impressive and was able to really pull me into the story.

I love King Arthur's legend and fairies, so this book did not disappoint me.

Waiting for book two.

Wonderful

Mythical creatures and a magical forest with fairies! I’m a huge King Arthur fan so I loved the Merlin/Morganna storyline. This is my first Terri Reid book, I can’t wait for the next book in this series and any other books she’s written. I found her writing to be smooth and visual, I felt like I could really see the story play out almost like seeing through Megan’s eyes. The narrator did a great job moving between characters and bringing the story to life.

Love the storyline

It is a fascinating storyline. Full of adventure and humor. The interaction of the family is full of love and mischief. But a great evil is against them. What an intriguing book Terri Reid has written.

The narrator, Rachel Ahren did a good job with the character voices but her greatest skill was the inflections in conversations. that portrayed subtle meanings and enhanced the love and mischief.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and hope to have an opportunity to finish the story through Book 2.

Great performance, Enchanting story.

Wow! Terri Reid has a winning series here! This is my first time experiencing one of her books and I'm so glad I did! Anyone who likes King Author and Merlin will surely LOVE this book. I found myself lost in this mystical tale.
Rachel Ahrens is wonderful with her narration. She brings the characters to life with a refreshing tone and incredible inflection. I just love to hear her tell this story. I will be looking for other books she has narrated!
My only disappointment with this book was the ending. It's great! The ending will leave you breathless. I was immediately ready to purchase the next book in the series only to find out that...Audible doesn't carry it. 🤨😣😢
