About this listen

In the New York Times best-selling series' latest installment, Mitch Rapp finds himself alone and targeted by a country that is supposed to be one of America's closest allies.

After 9/11, the United States made one of the most secretive and dangerous deals in its history. The evidence against the powerful Saudis who coordinated the attack would be buried. In return, King Faisal would promise to keep the oil flowing and deal with the conspirators in his midst.

When the king's own nephew is discovered funding ISIS, the president suspects that the Saudis never intended to live up to their agreement. He decides that the royalty needs to be sent a message and that Mitch Rapp is just the man to deliver it. The catch? America can't be seen moving against an ally. Rapp will be on his own. Forced to make a decision that will change his life forever, Rapp quits the CIA and assembles a group of independent contractors to help him complete the mission.

They've barely begun unraveling the connections between the Saudi government and ISIS when the brilliant new head of the intelligence directorate discovers their efforts. With Rapp getting too close, he threatens to go public with the details of the post-9/11 agreement between the two countries.

Facing an international incident that could end his political career, the president orders America's intelligence agencies to join the Saudis' effort to hunt the former CIA man down.

Rapp, supported only by a team of mercenaries with dubious allegiances, finds himself at the center of the most elaborate manhunt in history. It's only a matter of time before he's caught or killed. Will it be enough to turn the tables on the Saudis and clear his name?

Why didn't George Guidall narrate this book?!!!

Any additional comments?

I LOVE the Mitch Rapp novels BUT they need to be narrated by George Guidall! He is the most amazing narrator and the VOICE OF MITCH RAPP and all the other great characters in this series!!! This novel just isn't the same without his narration, it doesn't feel like a Mitch Rapp story! I really hope George Guidall will be back for the next book!!

Why did they use Scott Brick.

What disappointed you about Enemy of the State?

Why do they insist on using Scott Brick?
He has the most dullest voice ever. All the characters sound the same.
His voice puts me to sleep.
Bring back George Guidall or even use Lou Diamond Phillips.

How could the performance have been better?

Use George Guidall or Lou Diamond Phillips as the narrator.
They give outstanding proformances!

10 Year Audible Listener: First Review Ever!!!

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Yes - I had an extreme reaction to this audio book... it felt like John Corey (Nelson DeMille's leading man) was telling a Mitch Rapp story. Love Scott Brick in that role... beyond disappointed with anyone but George G. narrating this series.

Any additional comments?

Since July when I first discovered that George Guidall was not narrating this latest installment, I experienced extreme emotions... emotions that only an audio book fan girl can understand. Dread, confusion, disappointment. Especially since I've listened to all 15 previous books at least three to four times (trust us - Guidall is Rapp). Why? Why? Why? It's hard to enjoy the story. Please course correct for the next book!

Good One

This book was a good mix of the old Mitch and the Mitch that has had to continue on without Vince Flynn. Good job.

Another Hit

Where does Enemy of the State rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

At the top, this is another great adventure. I don't want to give anything away, but Love the new/old characters helping Mitch and the enemies. How Rapp will outsmart enemies and vice versa.

What did you like best about this story?

The roller coaster from the moment the President asked for Rapp's help. The team helping Rapp, the uncertainty of how much can he trust his crew. Old enemies/friends coming back.

What aspect of Scott Brick’s performance would you have changed?

Sorry only 3 stars. Mr. Brick is too dramatic at times. The story was so good that most of the time I didn't mind until I heard the dramatic voice;) Hope Mr. Guidall is doing good and that he will come back soon. Nick Sullivan did a great job too, I think he would have been better, but I know a lot of people complained and don't understand why?

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Absolutely, too bad I started the book on a Tuesday and had to work, but every little time I had free I listened and stayed up late on Thursday to finished.

Any additional comments?

Well done Kyle Mills!!! Can't wait for next book.

One of the best..

Hard to pick a favorite Mitch Rapp story. This is up there with his finest! Vince would be proud.

Omg this guy 🤦‍♀️

I love this series and was really looking forward to the book. But good Lord Scott brick is so annoying! I initially downloaded the other version narrated by Armand Schultz which was tolerable but so monotone I couldn’t keep track. I wrote off the rest of the series because of the narrators but after finishing all of the tier 1 books which were awesome, I was out of things to listen to so I came back. I do love the characters and the books and I really wanted to hear what happened but it is so hard to listen to this guy! He is like a Geico commercial making fun of books… And the tone he uses for everything is the exact one my Police Lieutenant husband uses when he is making fun of me for listening to it. I guess I will not be able to finish the series unless I find time to actually read the novels… Unfortunately my only downtime is in my car so I’m kind of stuck. Maybe one day they will get Ray Porter or George Guidall back to finish these out! I can’t tell which is worse, the overly cheesy narration by brick or the monotone one by Schultz but either way I can’t take it. I’ll find the Cliff Notes. Shame though because it seems these guys are costing the author a lot of money in possible downloads.

What happened to George Guidall?

No offense Scott Brick, but George is the best narrator in the series. You’re just a little to mechanical for me. And I had trouble telling your characters apart.
