About this listen

Alpha Team Battles Its Greatest Nemesis

With Juice in heavy contact on the do-or-die shore mission, Ali in a blistering sniper duel over the South Atlantic, and Homer all alone and massively outnumbered deep beneath the keel of the JFK, the Alpha operators are in the fight of their lives - against tactically outstanding, pain-invulnerable, and utterly merciless Spetsnaz commandos and with no guarantees about who will be left standing at the end....

The JFK Clings to Survival

Perilously low on ammo, fuel, planes, pilots, and options, and seemingly outmaneuvered at every turn, the beleaguered John F. Kennedy engages in a lethal game of cat and mouse with the gigantic and weapons-bristling Russian battlecruiser - with not just their lives on the line but the lives of everyone on the planet....

One Troop Fights Furiously to Hold the Center

As London comes under unrelenting siege, Jameson and the Royal Marines face down a lightning-fast and terrifyingly uncontrolled outbreak in CentCom's Strategic Command Center - the beating heart of humanity's last defenses against the dead - and with no one but them standing in the way of total collapse and utter devastation....

Great series

Another great installment of the Arisen series. I really love th characters and their struggles to overcome almost every obstacle in their way. The only problem I have is that I want more right now. I also wish the book was a bit longer. Keep them coming boys.

Zombie Genre at its Best!

In my opinion, much like The Walking Dead (I know some nuts will crack at that comparison) this series has the capacity to grab both ZA lovers and those who may not love the genre but are looking for a good story with great characters.

Also, having listened to a lot of audiobooks, I don't know that I have listened to a narrator that I enjoy more than RC Bray. The fact that he does probably 3 dozen characters, and all of them have their own unique style, accent, and pitch is entertaining in itself.

Lastly, the amount of research that goes into this story telling, from weaponry details to military vessels, to technology and medical equipment is exceptional. I don't know much about that stuff, but from listening to these books, I feel like I could write a field manual.

Good stuff! More Please!

Outstanding, Again!

This is hands down the best and most believable Zombie Apocalypse series yet penned. Every book is nearly impossible to pause, let alone stop your listening pleasure.

love this series just wish the books were longer

they have really captured what makes a tier 1 operator. its not all Hollywood glamor and explosions. its discipline, unwaveable courage, resolve, and shear will. the characters are amazing and a ton of fun.

wonderfull story on and on

What made the experience of listening to Empire of the Dead the most enjoyable?

It is the 8th in a very enjoyable series. The author really does a fine job of building his team of hero's. Very entertaining and of course Mr Bray is excellent. As a child I remember sitting in front of the radio on Sunday mornings listening to someone read the funnies to children all over Houston. Yes, we had an old black and white TV but it wasn't the same as letting your mind run with all the possibilities that listening to a great story can bring. This is the same. Watching gives you too much input and doesn't call for your own imagination to fill in the blanks.
I'm not a big Z fan but this writer along with the fellow that wrote about the bottle of Rum that is the hero's inner mind are all great reads.

Have you listened to any of R. C. Bray’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

He is the best. His use of voice comes across so real that the listener knows the girl is a girl and the guy is a guy without silliness. Very few can pull this off without sounding foolish.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Nothing's easy!

Any additional comments?

Just a great entertaining read.
Where are the rest of the series.

Great series- frustratingly expensive.

This series could EASILY be split into about 3 books. However, now I’m about to purchase book NINE. I have spent so much money on this series it’s ridiculous, frustrating, and aggravating!!! Books end MID MISSION. It’s not cliff hangers, there is no rhyme or reason to where the books start or end. It’s like the publishers thought ‘ok this book is about 8 hours long. That’s good enough. Let’s end this one here.’ It’s beyond irritating. I’ve spent well over $100 on this ONE SERIES. It’s frankly a bunch of BS! But it’s good. And I have to see it through. RC Bray is the God of all narrators which is why I initially started this series. He doesn’t disappoint, and neither does the content of the books.

Another Great Book in the ARISEN Series!

You never leave the edge of your seat while listening to this next book in the Arisen series. Ongoing awesome story with constant action that always keeps your attention. Excellent character development and performance - just the right amount of detail to keep you immersed in the story. Highly recommend this series if you're interested in apocalyptic and/or zombie fiction - credits well spent. Just wish the books were longer - I breezed through this one in a couple sittings and I'm really looking forward to the next installment.
