About this listen

Working in one of Odessa's busiest emergency departments, Eliza Moore never expected to find her true purpose through the suffering of her patients. As a trained nurse, she knew her duty required care and compassion, to help those in need heal from their injuries and illnesses. What she didn't see coming was bureaucratic red tape forcing her to ignore the mistreatment and suffering, to turn a blind eye when the victims needed her most.

After witnessing yet another abused woman walk through her unit and return right back to the evil tormenting her, Eliza forces herself to take action to save a young mom from the horrors of domestic violence. But once unleashed, this executioner soon discovers there's more power in breaking the rules than following them, and she's not about to give up her newfound calling.

With a taste for vengeance, will this angel of death finally help those trapped in the violence or does ending perpetrators with lethal efficiency send Eliza spiraling down toward her own doom?

To the brave souls who navigate the darkness of suffering and violence, seeking hope among despair. Your strength inspires the fight for justice and compassion in a world often shrouded in silence. For the healers who stand at the crossroads of compassion and fury. To every person who has ever felt trapped between the desire for justice and the weight of the world.

And to the listeners, thank you for joining Eliza on this journey of healing, vengeance, and self-discovery. Your willingness to explore the shadows alongside her is a testament to the power of storytelling in illuminating the human experience.

Raw, Gritty, and Impossible to Forget

This book pulled me in fast and didn’t let go. Eliza’s journey from a nurse just trying to help, to someone who takes justice into her own hands, was intense and honestly hit close to home. I’ve seen how broken the system can be and how often people fall through the cracks, so watching her snap—and then do something about it—felt strangely satisfying and deeply emotional. It’s not just about revenge; it’s about what happens when compassion and fury collide. The story is dark, but not without hope, and it made me reflect on how we define justice. If you like stories that dive into moral gray areas and feature strong women doing what needs to be done, this one's going to stick with you long after the last page.

Quietly Powerful

This story stayed with me. It’s not flashy or dramatic for the sake of it—it just feels honest. Eliza’s anger, her helplessness, the moment she decides she’s had enough... it all made sense. I’ve never worked in a hospital, but the frustration she feels in watching people fall through the cracks really hit. It’s heavy in places, but not in a way that pushes you away. More like it invites you to sit with it and think. I didn’t expect it to get to me like it did.

A Vengeful Journey with Intent

Fans of gripping thrillers will find this story both compelling and intense. The main character’s evolution unfolds with raw honesty, holding your attention and prompting reflection. Her choices blur the lines between justice and vengeance, pushing the listener to consider what true accountability means when harm continues unchecked. The emotional tension rises steadily with each chapter, and the plot delivers enough unexpected turns to keep you fully engaged. The moral conflicts and emotional toll felt especially resonant after working in high-pressure environments. This is a layered narrative built on strength, sorrow, and the pursuit of meaning in the aftermath of silence. A suspenseful and unforgettable experience from beginning to end. It leaves you questioning the cost of justice and who is left to carry it forward when systems fail.

Interesting Story about Eliza

I enjoy hearing the story of Eliza, who suffers from obstacles, as we all do in real life. I learned that she was a nurse, and treating patients was crucial. Of course, when Eliza had problems at home, it affected her life slightly, but it’s a learning process. Destiny had ideas for her; if she worked hard, she could overcome them without any issue. It's interesting being a nurse and the duties you have to work for. I enjoyed the story and the things I learned by faith.

Short But Stirring Storytelling

I didn’t expect to get pulled in so quickly, but I ended up finishing it in one sitting. The pacing was fast, but it didn’t feel rushed, just really efficient storytelling. I found myself thinking about the characters even after I was done. It’s one of those reads where you don’t need a lot of pages to feel something real. Great for when you want something meaningful but don’t have a ton of time.

Justice Hits Different in This One

This audiobook pulled me in fast. Eliza isn’t just a nurse; she’s this quiet force who finally snaps after seeing too much injustice, and honestly, I don’t blame her. It’s dark, emotional, and kind of empowering in a twisted way. If you’ve ever felt angry at a system that fails people, this story will hit home. It's heavy but powerful.

Pulled me in way deeper than I expected

I went in thinking this would just be a quick listen, but it completely pulled me in. It felt personal, raw, and made me think about how we all try to hold it together in different ways. I actually caught myself replaying parts just to sit with the emotions. Definitely not what I expected—in the best way.

Grit, Strength, and Unspoken Truths

This one hit me on a different level. I wasn’t expecting to feel so pulled into someone else’s pain, but the way the story unfolded made it impossible to ignore. It doesn’t sugarcoat anything, and I appreciated that. The emotions feel earned—nothing forced or dramatic for the sake of it. You really get a sense of what people endure in silence. I walked away thinking differently, and that’s saying something.

Enjoyed it!

This story does a great job showing how hard and scary it can be to live with abuse. Eliza tries to help someone in a really tough situation, and it shows how much she cares. The way the story is told feels very real and honest. The person reading it out loud makes the emotions even stronger. It’s a heavy story, but there’s hope in it too. Definitely worth listening to.

Really good

You'll love this audiobook if you are into on the ground investigations with all their details. The nurse protagonist in this audiobook stumbles upon a case of domestic violence during her ER duties that motivates her to do something about the lies and cover ups that perpetrators typically wrap their audiences in. An inspiring, even uplifting take on what to do about horrors that unfold in our midst.
