This book is about the individual's journey to psychological wholeness, known in analytical psychology as the process of individuation. Edward Edinger traces the stages in this process and relates them to the search for meaning through encounters with symbolism in religion, myth, dreams, and art.

For contemporary men and women, Edinger believes, the encounter with the self is equivalent to the discovery of God. The result of the dialogue between the ego and the archetypal image of God is an experience that dramatically changes the individual's worldview and makes possible a new and more meaningful way of life.

i have been through this book many times. My printed copy has highlights and notes throughout. If I am in-between books, then I will often just open this one up and read. Could not pass up owning an audiobook version. Edinger's books (and lectures), are always insightful.

Self, ego, religion, psyche. Mysterious concepts given sober and rational scientific treatment with clear and engaging commentary. After reading the works of Jordan Peterson this book was a fantastic introduction to Jung

If even 10% of this book clicks in your psyche, you will experience life through a dramatically different lens. I saw this book in a Jungian Psychoanalyst’s personal library and was immediately drawn to it, so I was very excited when I saw it again on Audible. This is a book I will revisit many times. Thank you!
