Publisher's summary

Chronic fatigue, burnout, brain fog-no matter what we call it, our constant feeling of being drained affects all that we hold dear. But the very real culprits of our fatigue don't lie in our preconceived notions of caffeine intake or adrenal fatigue, nor does the replenishment of our energy lie in overhauling our lifestyle in time-consuming and unrealistic ways. Instead, the core underlying cause lies in our cells, specifically our mitochondrial deficiency, and the solution can be found in simple, straightforward, nutritional strategies that address our body's biology.

Ari Whitten, functional health practitioner and creator of The Energy Blueprint program, takes a deep dive into our cellular energy centers and the holistic workings of our body systems and provides the clear nutritional methodologies and specific foods, supplements, and compounds you can use to:

  • Get better sleep
  • Lower your blood pressure
  • Help stabilize your blood sugar levels
  • Lose excess weight
  • Improve memory and concentration
  • Increase mental well-being

Great nutrition insight backed by data

Appreciated author sharing his wealth of knowledge, didn’t like how he would suggest you eat a certain amount per your body weight because I just wanted an idea of how much to eat per day not to have to divide every food by my body weight. And towards the end it was very dry. Sorry for the un-positive feedback but I love you & your brother’s work!

Helpful information-even for a holistic health practitioner

As a long time Ayurvedic and holistic health practitioner, I have read hundreds of health related books. I honestly wasn’t expecting to learn a lot from this one. Yet, to my surprise, I found some new actionable items alongside good reminders. I appreciate the scientific lens with which content is presented. Anyone looking to improve or optimize health will find something to nibble on here.

Ground Breaking

Brace yourselves, this is my longest book review yet.

In 1995 I read my first nutrition book where I learnt to balance calories, fibre and protein. There was no myfitnesspal, there was no smartphone, I used an exam pad to track. For years. Ask my mum what the inside of her kitchen cupboards would look like...

Life took over I stopped paying attention to my nutrition, dived into career and becoming a parent. In 2008 I decided I was too fat for my liking and I was tired of feeling tired. I cleaned up.
By 2010 I had developed quite an unhealthy relationship with nutrition - overthinking everything. (For a tiny piece of insight, I was storing brazil nuts in my cupboard to ensure I got my 2.5 nuts of selenium daily).
Exhausted, I threw ALL my ridiculous books and magazines away, filling a wheelie bin. It was liberating.

In 2014 Ari Whitten wrote "Forever Fat Loss".
This wasn't a diet book.
I made an exception to my ban on nutrition books for Ari after having followed him on facebook for a long time and loving his very practical approach to health.
This book was the wisdom he had scientifically and mathematically plotted from doing his PHD where he studied all VALID, double blind clinical trials relating to obesity and fat loss recorded historically.
It reignited my passion for health sans the obsession factor.
For years now, I've lived a very balanced, and often indulgent life when it comes to nutrition. I fluctuate within the same 4kg - sometimes choosing to trim down a bit, sometimes choosing baked goods and the calorific life but I know exactly where I'm sitting in this balance and I do not lie to myself, nor do I look at the scale and wonder where that came from. I'm fully accountable and comfortable in my choices.

2022 Ari has done it again. EAT FOR ENERGY is the result of further years of a passionate commitment to providing practical advice on what we need to do in order to create and access the energy within our mitochondria.
I have spent the last few days soaking up his wisdom yet again.
I've started to implement some of the easy wins - I'm already sleeping better.
I am so excited to be a LITTLE bit more aware and a LITTLE bit more committed again.
The fresh info is a true gift... as is ENERGY

Good advice, but still...

Excellent recommendations for improving diet and health. The drawback is that he subscribes to the now-discredited belief that the ONLY cause of overweight is overeating relative to one's exercise level. The reason he (and many others) believe this is that obesity is associated with several comorbidities, including cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and stroke, so it is assumed that obesity CAUSES these diseases. After all, obesity is plainly obvious in people who suffer from these diseases. But that's a little like saying that rashes cause shortness of breath, swelling of the tongue and face, and heart arrhythmia because these comorbidities occur with rashes. We know that's silly because it is an underlying allergy (such as peanuts) that causes rashes along with these other symptoms. Modern research into obesity is showing the same thing. Insulin resistance and inflammation are the most common causes of obesity, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and stroke. Lowering those two factors reverses all of these. Yes, dietary changes can beneficially impact insulin resistance and inflammation, but some people's genetic makeup makes them more prone to developing them--even when they eat properly and get the recommended level of exercise. As a result, they need medical interventions to keep their baseline insulin and inflammation levels low.
