Publisher's summary
Earth Angel with a Green Card is the true story of the author’s mother who spent her life in service to others, especially her children. During her modest early life in rural Mexico, she bore 11 children, whom she raised with very few resources. She also acted as a nurse for her medical practitioner husband. When the author emigrated to the USA at the age of 9½, it broke her heart, but through her faith, hope, and dreams, she joined him and other members of the family several years later. Her work-ethic, love, and faith inspired her children and many others to live fulfilling and happy lives.

I got tired. Tired of all the fluffy, just-guessing books about what people regret, want, and will do at the end of their life. I'm a hospice nurse and I want to show the world how love can be messy, not-pretty, complicated, funny, fun and heart-breakingly beautiful. I want the world to know that caring for someone who's dying is challenging and this is where you discover your true self.

Battered by the loss of revered black leaders, it takes writer James Baldwin to finally force her out of isolation with a dinner party that inspired her to write.

According to the Alzheimer’s Association, an estimated 5.4 million Americans of all ages have Alzheimer’s disease. That’s one in eight older Americans. Story
When Edward M. Hallowell was 11, a voice out of nowhere told him he should become a psychiatrist. A mental health professional of the time would have called this psychosis. But young Edward (Ned) took it in stride, despite not quite knowing what "psychiatrist" meant. With a psychotic father, an alcoholic mother, an abusive stepfather, and two so-called learning disabilities of his own, Ned was accustomed to unpredictable behaviour from those around him and to a mind he felt he couldn't always control.

Story
Franciszka and her daughter, Helena, are simple, ordinary people until 1939, when the Nazis invade their homeland. Providing shelter to Jews in Nazi-occupied Poland is a death sentence, but Franciszka and Helena do exactly that. In their tiny home in Sokal, they hide a Jewish family in a loft above their pigsty, a Jewish doctor with his wife and son in a makeshift cellar under the kitchen, and a defecting German soldier in the attic - each party completely unknown to the others.

Story
Roman Halter was a spirited, optimistic schoolboy in 1939 when he and his family gathered behind the curtains to watch the Volksdeutsche (German Polish) neighbors of their small town in western Poland greet the arrival of Hitler's armies with kisses and swastika flags. Within days, the family home had been seized, 12-year-old Roman had become a slave of the local SS chief, and, returning from an errand, he silently witnessed his Jewish classmates being bayoneted to death by soldiers at the edge of town. So began his remarkable six-year journey through some of the darkest caverns of Nazi Europe....

Story of Inspiration
I listened to Dr. Hernandez's first book, "On the Border of a Dream", and was struck by the amazing story of a young boy's journey to immigrate to the United States and then embraced the opportunities this country offers to become a well respected Surgeon. This story focuses on Dr. Hernandez's amazing mother who had a heart of gold and could not walk away from anyone in need. Wonderful story, very heart warming and moving. Highly recommend it.

Boring and Monotone
I hoped to have enjoyed, but the reader’s voice was too monotone which made the story boring. Could not finish.
