About this listen

Ryan wakes up to find his contractor dad building walls to turn their big old house into a duplex. The family that moves into the other side includes Bizzy Horvat, the pretty girl he has a crush on at school. Bizzy claims her mother is a witch with the power to curse people with clumsiness or, in Bizzy’s case, astonishing beauty.

When a bee gets caught in Bizzy’s hair, Ryan acts so quickly and radically to save her from getting stung that he attracts the attention of a group of micropotents - people with micropowers. He soon realizes that Bizzy and her mother also have such powers. It becomes Ryan’s job, with the help of the other micropotents, to protect the Horvats from a group of witch hunters from their native country, who are determined to kill Bizzy, her mother, and all the other “witches” - micropotents - who have gathered to protect them.

Good but Not Great

Definitely middle school to high school is the target audience. As an adult i still found it somewhat interesting because it had so much potential. I kept waiting for the hook but it never came. I have read many of his other books but this one just wasn’t it for me.

Another winner from Orson Scott Card!

I am enjoying the micropowers series of which this is the 2nd book. we meet a new cast of people with micropowers with someone who can react quickly to someone trying to harm someone that he cares about, and a girl who is somewhat cursed with the ability to show a face that is so beautiful that its debilitating to others. They of course learn how to work together to save the day but I wont spoil how or what. Just know that its another winner from Orson Scott Card!

A different witch tale

Not what I expected. When I read the short blurb about the book, I thought it was about a boy living next to a witch and how he dealt with this. It is not.

It is a great story about a 15 year old boy who, Ryan, falls for the girl next door, Buzzy. There are few things that complicate the situation. One, Ryan saves his sister from a bee. Two, a few days later, he does the same for Buzzy. Someone sees what he does and tells him that he may have a micro power. Once he understands what a micro power is, he soon realizes that Bizzy and her mother have such powers too.

Ryan then gets the job of protecting Bizzy from men trying to harm her and her mom. This leads to many adventures.

I was hooked on the story as it drew me in until finishing it. A great book to read.

Good book very interesting I have an ending that’s making me very annoyed

You had to end it that way I hate these books that end with a bad ending tragedy listed as a tragedy. If you’re going to make it a tragedy and I’m just a little annoyed, good book would recommend it but the ending Hurt your heart.

great book

other than the ending which I won't spoil, and other than it hitting to close to home, this was an outstanding, amazing book, thank you.

Great book with creative ideas

I really find the idea of micro powers really funny. The continuous witty banter makes the story even more fun.

Great story

I’ve always enjoyed Mr. Cards ability to make you connect with his characters. I’ve always enjoyed his stories. His writing only gets better with Time.

A interesting story

Good characters and character development. The narrator is quite good for the story. The idea of micro powers is very much in line with knacks and those hunting people with them as found in the Alvin Maker series.
