About this listen

Adventurers are coming, and they will do anything to steal the dungeon’s power....

Since awakening to his new life, Smit has hardly had a moment of rest. Goblins, ogres, and adventurers all seem to be attracted to him like flies to honey. Smit and his monstrous children only wanted to live out their days in peace, but now that his existence has been revealed to humanity, all eyes have fallen on the Dungeon of Origins.

Every noble in the kingdom has hired a team of adventurers to secure Smit’s core, guaranteeing both a victory against their political rivals and their rule over him. This time, he cannot run away from the encroaching greedy and power-hungry nobles and ambitious men - his new family depends on him. Time is running out to save his dungeon. Can Smit grow his power fast enough, or will he and his children be enslaved forever?

Much improved and well done

Far better audio than the first book. Dialog was rough at points. I like the progression and overall story.

A great next addition to the series!

My only complaint in this series so far is that the books aren't three times as long and end to quickly, leaving me wanting even more!

Great story and immersive universe.

Author David Sanchez really surprises me with how good he can make his books, each of them is better than the one that came before. At some point I just became unable to stop listening to them and can't wait for the next one, ended up buying all of them.

Smit again

Highly enjoyed the book listening to Smit and his family grow. Another good story as the adventure continues with this little dungeon. Editing was a little bit bad as the volume would go up and down mostly down in the audio play back. But not enough to hurt the story or your enjoyment of the story. The author Twitter for these books is @heart_dungeon. Can’t wait for the next book as this last one drops a few hints on what’s to come.

Just what I was hoping for!

Book 2: Halls of Stone, takes place right after the end of The Singing Mountain bk1 which is just what I was hoping for... with the addition of the new dungeon floors to explore, it didn't take long for our scout team (Azure Arrow) to dive ever deeper, trying if possible to map where traps are found and investigate any reward drops when defeating a boss...
On the other hand, Smit (the Dungeon Heart) only wants to keep his newly formed dungeon, and his children safe, he definitely does NOT want to be pwned by a human Lord or King while he's still vulnerable. So Smit's only recourse is to build stats and have his children fight to get stronger! All the while scouts and now other adventure teams are starting their dungeon crawl, posing a mighty threat for a newly formed Dungeon! This is a book that has you rooting for Smit, while still wanting Azure Arrow to survive and get out safely! So grab the book to watch the games unfold!
Henry Kramer hasn't been my favorite narrator, but he does a good job here, and I'm surely looking forward to the release of the audio copy of book #3!!!

Not as good as the first

I'm not quite sure if the plot of this book was thought out as much?

It was never shown why the dungeon had to breakthrough to the next tier before the b-tier adventurers came. He unlocked a bunch of new floors...and did nothing with them? It seems like had he invested mana into his minions instead, he would have spent less on respawning and had a much easier time of things?

Which is fine, he doesn't need to be right, but the lack of acknowledgement regarding what he chose to do, and how breaking through to the next tier didn't do anything aside from giving him a body was strange and noticable.

Dinged performance again because if you're going to talk about a dungeon with an otherworldly singing voice, having the performer reading the song lines in such a monotone doesn't...help.

I think my favourite part of the first book was seeing the dungeon create his masterpiece, and experiencing the reaction of the adventurers. While we get reactions from a fresh wave of adventurers to the already created dungeon, the lack of something new really stood out to me.

Terribly interesting

This book picks up pretty much where the first bookends and Smit is caught up in between politics and plans that he wants nothing to do with. He just wants to work on his dungeon and create new and interesting objects. But of course, the world and the gods have different plans for him which of course he really wants nothing to do with.

We follow Smit as he does his best to deal with the pests that invade his dungeon and with the politics that are involved. I truly love this series and I'm very much looking forward to the next book in the series.

great addition to book one..

had me hanging on every word. I actually listened to it in one day I couldn't stop. and the end left me waiting for book 3. narrator does a better job in this book. the voices for the charactors are great but the narration seems a bit robotic. but still ignore that this story is great!
