Publisher's summary

Almost 40 years since its original publication, Drawing Down the Moon continues to be the only detailed history of the burgeoning but still widely misunderstood Neo-Pagan subculture.

Margot Adler attended ritual gatherings and interviewed a diverse, colorful gallery of people across the United States, people who find inspiration in ancient deities, nature, myth, even science fiction. In this revised edition, Adler takes a fascinating and honest look at the religious experiences, beliefs, and lifestyles of modern America's Pagan groups.

Overview of a broad movement

I've learned so much from this informative read. Far from painting with a broad brush this book acknowledges the variety and specificty of a fascinating movement.

Informative and Opened My World

Learned a ton. A couple parts were a bit dense for the casual learner, but suffice to say I feel well educated on the subject now, and definitely have an itch to read more on the topic. Also, the narrator has a great voice for a book about witchcraft. Well done by her.

Great next level read!

If you want to know more about backgrounds of many of the traditions and thoughts of “nature religions” and or witchcraft this is your next step. Very well researched and this was well read in a non annoying voice.

beautiful, detailed, and exploratory

This book does a good job of summarizing Paganism to beginners, as well as deepening a historical and modern understanding of the craft.

Good for context

A great piece of work, it does not acquit the present narrative of unethical behavior, lying, Political contamination and straight up fiction found in all religions but it gives the person on a journey to practical native European religion a frame work. Who is who and how it all started. If anything it is an arguing point for fact based reconstructionism and folk ways. None the less a great listen, good narration and was never boring.
