I’m just going to talk about one thing here. Because it affects how I felt about the book in general. The other two Cross books uses Phil Gigante as the reader. Gigante did a really good job throwing himself into the characters (the main strength of the Cross novels is its wild characters). There are so many of them, yet Gigante made each distinct. I know some readers were not happy by some of his choices -- I disagree with those reviewers. These novels are pulpy and fun. That’s how Gigante read them.

This new guy....he isn’t terrible. I just can’t tell who the heck is talking. He reads each person with little or no way to tell them apart, which is a big, honking problem.

Was Phil Gigante out getting a sandwich, Audible? What gives?

A bit frustrating for this Cross fan

Vachss did a great job filling in some of the mysteries from the previous 2 cross crew novels, however a lot of it was just summary material. while narration wasn't bad, it just threw me off a bit not having Phil Gigante read this third book as he'd done for the others. Gigante just has a much better character range.

Great Story but Wanted Phil Gigante!
