Publisher's summary

Firedrake, a young dragon, receives a frightening warning one night: Humans are planning to destroy the valley in which he lives! All the dragons must flee. Their only refuge is a place above the clouds called the Rim of Heaven - which may not even exist.

Firedrake boldly volunteers to go ahead first. As he embarks on his journey, he meets Ben, a runaway boy. Together, the boy and dragon make their way toward the Rim of Heaven, all the while running a step ahead of Nettlebrand, a monster who will stop at nothing to hunt down Firedrake. Their quest will truly become an adventure like no other.

A great listen...

I'm a new fan of both Cornelia Funke and Brendan Fraser. This is a really fun book, suitable for adults and kids alike, so it's great for family road trips.
Brendan Fraser is absolutely fabulous as narrator. He has a different voice and accent for each character, and they're all great!

Great Narrator

I just have to echo what the others have said, Brendon Fraser is brilliant as the narrator. The grumbling, mumbling dwarf made me smile every time. He made a gentle, pleasant story so full of life. I have been an audible listener for a few years, but this is my first review, and its because of Brendan. I have been listening to this travelling to and from work, and have been reluctant to turn it off, not bad for a children's book. I will also add that its a nice story, i've enjoyed it greatly

loved it!

I was impressed by both the story and the narrator. Brendan Fraser did a marvelous job on the narration and the story was simply delightful. I hope to read the next book although I am a little cautious since it is different narrator but if the story is good and the narrator's do a decent job I'm sure I'll be thrilled

Best Funke Novel

I've read/listened to them all to date and this was my favorite story and favorite narration of them all. I am a little jealous of Brendan Fraser's kids that they have such a fun storyteller in their midst. I hope there will be a sequel.

why does fraser not narrate more books?!?!?!

i absolutely LOVED this story, but a huge factor with any audiobook is your narrator. Brendan Fraser knock this out of the park. Every character has their own unique personality and he does voices for each character so flawlessly that you think there's five people in the studio narrating the story. He mimics sound effects for you he adds his own personal touches which brings the story full circle to life. the story was absolutely incredible and Brendan Fraser was phenomenal

Brandon Fraser is amazing

I found this book to be very interesting but the best part was Brandon Fraser's narration. He was wonderfully entertaining and I find myself listening again and again. I can't wait to find another book narrated by Mr. Fraser. GREAT JOB!

wish more than five stars

What does Brendan Fraser bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

he made each character come to life! I love the depth he brought to each voice even going so far as to sound as if he was eating something when the brownie was while she talked! excellent!!!
