About this listen

A Woman on a Mission

Grace Clark has always done things safely. She's never colored outside of the law, but she has a book due and has found the perfect spot to break through her writer's block. Or so she thinks. Right up until Arian suddenly appears and tries to force her away from the mountain. Unaware of the war she just stumbled into, Grace doesn't just discover the perfect place to write, she finds Arian - the most gorgeous, enticing, mysterious man she's ever met.

A King with a Purpose

Arian is a Dragon King who has slept away centuries in his cave. Recently woken, he's about to leave his mountain to join his brethren in a war when he's alerted that someone has crossed onto Dreagan. He's ready to fight...until he sees the woman. She's innocent and mortal - and she sets his blood aflame. He recognizes the danger approaching her just as the dragon within him demands he claim her for his own....

not the best narrator

would have been better with the Antony Ferguson that's been doing the series all along.

Awful Narrator

I love Donna Grant books, I was so happy to download 1001 Dark Nights to listen while I work until I heard the narrator's voice! I couldn't take it... I stopped listening. I'll have to read it on my kindle Fire. Whoever is in charge of picking the narrator for her books PLEASE go back to Anthony Ferguson. Check out Dave Gillies, he has a nice voice.

Short story

I don't care for short stories as there is no time for character or plot development. I don't have a problem with the concept of this story, it's just too short!

He is her muse… and her dragon.

This book was originally read as a part of the Audible Escape package, then later purchased as a Kindle eBook to add to my collection. Dragon King #6.5 in the Dark King series; which is a part of the greater Dark World.

Arian the has the ability to control the weather, but the storms that Grace brew in him he can not fight. This is a short novella by Donna Grant. Normally I love all her books this one fell flat and did not resonate with me. I would only recommend this book if you are an addict of the Dark World that Donna Grant spins.

Skipable

Same story line type which is fine, but the characters were really flat and the conversations and general dialogue between them abysmal. The narrator’s normal voice and male voices were good, but her voice for the female character made her sound whiny with a very weir sometimes flat American accent, sometimes Texan , and something else bordering on a 12 year old girl. The other females chosen as mates has strengths this one is afraid of storms? I know it’s only a novella but a little more time spent on dialogue and narration would have gone a long way.

Why? . . . Was there no demo to hear the narrator?

Why was this narrator chosen? I ONLY listened because I am hooked on this series. But it was terribly painful to do so.
The narrator couldn't replicate a Scottish brogue.
The male voices were a complete disaster.
The random pauses added to the mess.
Very disappointing.

Very painful....

A real struggle to listen to the end. Love the book but good lord the narrator made Arian sound like a drunk count Dracula.

narrators voice is bad

the story its self is good and interesting, but the narrator sounds like a computer talking. I can not get pass the robot voice. Also the male voice just didnt sound right and the female characters voice was a bit to nasally. I personally would rather read this book myself.
gave it such a low score overall all because I only made it to the 6th chapter and didnt want to listen any further.
