About this listen
Henry is a man ready to spend Spring Break with his best friends and their kids in Aspen, Colorado when he gets left with the five-year-old on the plane while the others do some last minute shopping. Delayed by the weather, his friends insist Henry and the boy go on and they will catch up later.
A snowstorm is brewing as the plane takes off with 44 passengers and crew headed for the ski resort. When the plane crashes at the top of a 10,000 foot mountain, Henry realizes it is a miracle that almost everyone is alive and unhurt. Deciding to stay on the plane for shelter, most of the passengers are content to await rescue.
Then Henry notices a wall of snow above them and that the wreckage is directly in the avalanche path, which would throw the plane off another nearby cliff. He decides that him and the boy are taking their chances elsewhere.
Having been on the mountain before, Henry knows there is a cave somewhere on the other side of the peak. He tells the others his plan and asks them to join him. Some do, some don't. What happens next is an exciting story of survival and adventure and shows what makes a hero.

Story
On January 14, 2015, Tommy Caldwell, along with his partner, Kevin Jorgeson, summited what is widely regarded as the hardest climb in history - Yosemite’s nearly vertical 3,000-foot Dawn Wall, after 19 days on the route. This engrossing memoir chronicles the journey of a boy with a fanatical mountain-guide father who was determined to instill toughness in his son to a teen whose obsessive nature drove him to the top of the sport-climbing circuit.

As Viesturs recounts the stories of his most harrowing climbs, he reveals a man torn between the flat, safe world he and his loved ones share and the majestic and deadly places where only he can go.

Nothing is easy about life above the Arctic Circle. Except, perhaps, falling in love. Bryson Faulkner embraces the challenges that come with making a home in one of the most beautiful but unforgiving places on earth: the isolation of the endless wilderness, the harsh and unpredictable climate, and the predators that lurk about her remote cabin. And even the most perilous dangers of all-those that await her when she takes to the skies as one of Alaska's most daring bush pilots.

Great Story
This was a great story with not so great narration, about a group of friends on their way to Aspen for a spring ski trip, when their plane crashes atop a 10,000 foot mountain in the freezing cold snow. I did like this short story so much, that I will be reading the kindle version. I received this free audiobook in a promotion and this is my voluntary review.
