About this listen

Mickey is startled to find a statue of Rose in a museum; a statue that is 2,000 years old. The Doctor realises that this means the TARDIS will shortly take them to Ancient Rome, but when it does, he and Rose soon have more on their minds than sculpture. While the Doctor searches for a missing boy, Rose befriends a girl who claims to know the future; a girl whose predictions are surprisingly accurate. But then the Doctor stumbles on the hideous truth behind the statue of Rose, and Rose herself learns that you have to be very careful what you wish for. Fun and Fastbased

Any additional comments?

Since I am currently obsessed with all things Dr Who & since Tennant has a damn sexy voice, I figured I would give this a shot. Pleasantly surprised on how entertaining and fast paced this story was. Didn't want to stop listening (and not just because of his dreamy voice - Call me David) as it was an absorbing story with intriguing secondary characters and plenty of fun Rose/Doctor/Mickey moments. So guess I will be downloading more of these.

The Doctor and Rose get stoned

The Doctor and Rose investigate a disappearance as well as people seemingly turning to stone. In the process they get stoned themselves. How will they get out of this one?
David (the 10th Doctor) Tennant does a Brilliant job performing and breathing life into this fun adventure. Its very entertaining and short enough to be enjoyed several times.

I felt like I had just watched a Dr Who show!

I will admit that Tennant is not my favorite of the new Doctors, They all run a very close race with each other. I thought his portrayal of the cast was brilliant! He got every ones personalities spot on and think he did a wonderful job narrating this book.

The writing was great also, I felt like this could have easily been an actual tv show. If I have any complaints, it would be that for the length of the book it could have had a few more twists. Dont get me wrong there were several but I have to admit that without knowing anything about the story, I had figured out the "bad guy" pretty early on which is normally harder to do in the actual show. Very entertaining book regardless!

Pretty Good

Would you listen to Doctor Who again? Why?

YES!! I just found out about the audio books. and only this year learned about the reading books.

What did you like best about this story?

Everything David Tennant! I dont care if its a crummy story, if he's in it, it makes it better. Now at the crummy storylinesand shows of Dr #11 (worst ones ever, except one of the last ones before Nov 2013), not worth watching.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes and i did. I dont see why you wouldnt listen to the whole story in one sitting, anything less is crazy.

Any additional comments?

Im glad there are audio books of Dr. Who. I like the ones David Tennant reads. His are the best, as he was the best Dr. I hope he continues to read audio books, especially ones of him and rose. Why not, infinite possiblities of stories. He could make a good side business doing these readings, and give us more enjoyment of Dr. Who for decades to come. (They should have him come back as himself on the show. I dont see why the Dr cant transform back into a previous doctor!)

Fantastic!

Terrific plot with well-written characters who were very true to the Doctor Who universe. And David Tennant is, of course, the perfect narrator.
Definitely worth a listen.

For my first DW audiobook, not bad at all!

Overall this book was a good, maybe not great story but nonetheless, it was interesting and with David Tennant narrating, even better. He was able to make Mickey and Rose come to life for me. I can say that I would listen to it again.

Great episode!

What did you love best about Doctor Who?

This book is so well written that it is easy for the listener to imagine all the characters as if it were a long episode of the TV show. David Tennant reads it perfectly. I would not change a thing.

Have you listened to any of David Tennant’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

So far all of the books I have listened to narrated by David Tennant have been great.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I laughed and gasped at all the right places, that being said, the book was full of surprises.

Very fun

I don't think it could really fit into canon, but it feels like a “real” Doctor Who story because of course you’re hearing the Doctor’s voice and vocal mannerisms. Tennant does amazing impressions of the accents and speech patterns of Rose, Jackie and Mickey, and he creates other voices for other characters. On top of that, you get the narration in his gorgeous natural Scottish accent! The story was cuter and sweeter than most episodes but there were some good twists and exciting moments.
