About this listen
An adaptation of the classic book Disciplines of a Godly Man, this new book provides a biblical framework for living a radical life as a young disciple of Jesus. Point blank, this is a punchy, no-holds-barred book for young men that lays out the call and command to be disciplined, godly, and sold-out for Jesus. Addressing topics such as purity in one's thought-life, peer pressure, and perseverance as a Christian, this specially adapted work stands to influence a struggling generation.
Using the same no-nonsense approach that made R. Kent Hughes' Disciplines of a Godly Man a positive influence on thousands of adults, this adaptation by Kent, his son Carey, and veteran youth leader Jonathan Carswell outlines the disciplines necessary to help a young man align every facet of his life with the fundamental truths of the Bible. It not only teaches how to live a life of Christian discipline, but also instills the desire to do so into a young heart longing to live a life of integrity, meaning, and fulfillment. This book brings the authority of a trusted name with a new flavor that will engage a younger audience.

Story
Our modern society has called for us to “smash the patriarchy”, and the church has not done much better. Instead of telling men how they can hone and refine their aggressive traits, the church has told men that they should aspire to be meek servant-leaders, and when a man shows any signs of independence, he is shown the door. Men are supposed to found households, join brotherhoods, and work toward a mission. God made men to be strong and aggressive risk-takers. This is a feature, not a bug. Foster and Tennant remind us that it’s good to be a man.

Story
A lifelong pursuit of knowing God should embody the Christian's existence. According to eminent theologian J.I. Packer, however, Christians have become enchanted by modern skepticism and have joined the "gigantic conspiracy of misdirection" by failing to put first things first. Knowing God aims to redirect our attention to the simple, deep truth that to know God is to love His Word.

Story
From Genesis to Revelation, the providence of God directs the entire course of redemptive history. Providence is “God’s purposeful sovereignty”. Its extent reaches down to the flight of electrons, up to the movements of galaxies, and into the heart of man. Its nature is wise and just and good. And its goal is the Christ-exalting glorification of God through the gladness of a redeemed people in a new world.

You are being hunted. Like a seasoned angler, our enemy opens his tackle box and selects the lure most likely to attract his intended prey - usually the one you and I are least likely to consider harmful. Each lie we bite on causes us to feel pain, lose or injure relationships, and miss out on the abundant life God wants us to have. Lies Men Believe exposes the lies men most commonly believe and shows you how to combat those lies with the truth.

In a world of increasing ideological diversity, kids are being challenged to think through their own beliefs at an early age. Questions like How can you believe the Bible is true?; Why can’t we just agree that love is love?; and Isn’t Christianity against diversity? can seem like roadblocks for kids who are following Jesus, as well as for those who might otherwise consider faith in Christ.

MAN UP! Becoming a Godly Man in an Ungodly World was written by pastor, author and speaker Jody Burkeen. His God given vision to challenge men to stop being spiritual sissies, MAN UP and accept God's challenge to be "the light of the world" inspired him to put this vision in an audiobook to share with others. Jody's self-described "Damascus Road Transformation" led him on a journey to search the scripture to find what he had been missing his whole life, Jesus Christ.

Outstanding discipleship resource!
This book is wonderful to review with men of all ages, and most chapters for ladies as well. Warning: do NOT play chapter 3 in mixed company, as it covers very sensitive issues regarding purity that will be embarrassing and awkward in a mixed group.

Homophobic and totally disconnected from reality
This books immediately picks up by condemning homosexuality and "gamers"? It literally tells men that it is more desirable to appear mean and cold to women than to risk being friendly to them, and in the next chapter talks about how important interpersonal connection is. It also claims that you can never emotionally connect with a woman you aren't intent on marrying. In this book women are either wives or obstacles. It's disgusting, and does less than nothing to help young men connect with God.
