About this listen

William W. Johnstone's Mountain Man series towers above the landscape of Western fiction, taking readers into the heart and soul of a man who once lived on the wrong side of the law - and now is willing to die for justice. Smoke Jensen was once the fastest draw in the West. He was also tired of taking on every tinhorn upstart out to make a reputation. So Jensen hung up his .45s for good. Or so he thought...

In the bush country of South Texas, Captain Richard King built a sprawling ranch called Santa Gertrudis. But at the end of the Civil War, while King was in Mexico, his ranch was raided by Union troops led by a sadistic killer who burned Santa Gertrudis to the ground - and slaughtered everyone on it. 30 years later, King's land is about to run with blood once more. Former Union Captain Jack Brant has gotten out of prison and is raring to pick up his rampage where he left off. Called to Texas, mountain man Smoke Jensen is ready and willing to help King fight fire with fire. Brant isn't worried about Smoke Jensen - after all, what can one man do?

He's about to find out...

Destiny of the Mountain Man (Smoke)

This is another good adventure in the life of Smoke. In this book Smoke goes and helps out an ole friend that got him and preacher pardoned years ago. There is a war between Richard King a big ranch owner and Jack Brant a guy with an old score to settle. Smoke gets involved helping Richard King. There is a big war with Smoke ,Cal and Pearly with kings men against Brant's army. This is a very exciting book with a good story. It says Vanessa Maroney narrated this book. I think it was George Guidall. But it was good. If my review is any help will you please click on the helpful link below. Thank you.

Smokin hot!

Jack Garrett is the best Mountain Man narrator out of the three I have heard so far. He brings it all to life.

All other Smoke books talk about how rich he is and how rich Sally is..even own a bank. I liked the story just the same.

Smoke Jensen.

If you have read any of the Last Mountain Man books I don't need to say more. Not only does the author portray a rugged cowboy, but also a fast shooter and defender of this character and anyone else he is close to. This was not narrated by Vanessa Maroney it was narrated by George Guidall. Not one of my favorite narrators, but he does come across as a grisly old man and I don't believe Smoke Jensen is that old yet. I do like in these books, if a former friend needs help, Smoke comes to the rescue.

Gracious I really hate this narrator

The story was good however George Guidell totally ruined it. He has NO business narrating any book, ever but especially not a western. He sounds like he has a mouth full of marbles.
