So when a starship abducts me for a royal wedding with galactic consequences, my only option is to help its crew of beautiful officers complete their mission. The catch? Aliens exist...and, as it turns out, most of them aren’t that friendly. Jacob Brown wasn’t even born yet the first time they attacked Earth. He was only 14 the second time it happened. When Earth finally came together and fielded its first spaceborne military, Jacob didn’t hesitate to volunteer. Serving aboard a mighty starship, he’d be able to defend his planet - and his family - when, inevitably, they came again.

Captain James Decker has lived a life of hunting, killing, and earning credits. To some, it hasn’t amounted to much, but to him, it’s led to him captaining the SC Fortune, a space cruiser with a competent crew that he’s grown fond of. After accepting a bounty hunting mission with a beautiful blonde woman as the mark, Decker finds himself soon without a ship and a crew. But as luck would have it, this same mission gives him back what he lost: a new ship and a new crew.

John Devonte looked to the outskirts of the Draconic Empire for refuge. After adventuring for the past two decades–hunting monsters and collecting coin–he thought the town of Vismuth would provide some solace. Except what he discovered there was the beginning of the end. The Deadlands have come to life, and out of them pour bestial creatures that will devour all in their path. Luckily for John, he’s discovered that he’s a True Dragon. Story
Have you ever felt like there was something inside of you pushing your actions? A dormant beast, so to speak. I know it sounds crazy. But, that’s the best way I could describe how I’ve felt for a long time. I thought it was normal, some animal part of the human brain that lingered from evolution. But, this is the story of how I learned I wasn’t exactly human, and there was a world underneath our own where all the things that go bump in the night live. And, that my beast was very real indeed.

great
I enjoyed the story, but I'm left wanting more than the current ending. The characters are enjoyable. There didn't seem to be enough time to flesh out the characters completely. If you're looking for an enjoyable read without life changing meanings, this is a great listen.

Futuristic Sci-Fi with laughs and murder
A murder on a spaceship with a highly diverse crew means adventure, action, and fun! The wife of Inspector Jayce Carver is murdered. The diverse crew is charged with finding the murderer who is hiding on the Coalition ship, Destiny Aurora. One would think there would be limited space for a murderer to hide on board the Destiny Aurora. Then again, nothing is as it seems!
The author, Frank Zanca weaves a suspense-filled sci-fi adventure story reminiscent of Star Trek and other futuristic worlds. The storyline is well plotted with several twists to keep the listener guessing. I found myself chuckling at times as the humor was fun and light. The diverse characters in this novel are interesting and seemingly well-developed. The story flows smoothly and clearly, with colorful descriptions. The dialogue moved the story forward at a good pace and was authentic.
The narrators, Giancarlo Herrera and Hannah Schooner delivered a solid performance. They gave unique voices to the characters making the story easy to follow and endearing the characters to the listeners. They spoke clearly and with a steady cadence and intonation.
This is an interesting and fun-filled sci-fi adventure. A good solid listen with the hope of more in the series!

Great first book
This production has some humble elements, but overall is a solid intro to a series. The blend of action and dialogue flowed very well, and I would definitely buy the next book. Here’s why:
The performance and story were great. I thoroughly enjoyed the voice acting as well as the clever plot. The characters were nicely developed, and had lots of personality. I’m interested to learn more of their backstory. The pacing caused me to be invested very early on which is a great sign.
What I didn’t care for: Sometimes the audio was a little off. For some lines, the volume was a little low, and I don’t mean like the character was whispering. Not an issue, just don’t expect to only listen while you ride a noisy train. I also feel like some plot points could be explained a little more, but nothing that ruined the experience or can’t be expanded upon in the next book.
Overall, I highly recommend this book. Especially if you liked the video game Mass Effect.
