About this listen

The journey of the Enemy of the World continues as he steps foot in the fields of conflict on the frontlines of the Demon Realm.

“Do you truly believe that you can delay the Calamity? Even if it could be delayed, how much more sacrifice can you justify? Until everyone except your lot is killed?”

Wielding the might of magic obtained under the noses of his enemies, Sungchul travels in search of opportunities to hone his powers of cosmomancy and alchemy to put an end to the first of the prophesized calamities. Unlike before, time is not on his side. Conspiracies brew in the dark, eating away at the foundations of the frontlines holding back the all-consuming army of the demons that threaten to unleash unimaginable horrors upon the world. The world titters ever closer to the edge of ruin, and the hour grows dark.

Delve deep into the labyrinth of an ancient race whose walls are filled to the brim with those sacrificed for the sake of power. Tag along on a quest of vengeance into the mist-filled den of the devils, and observe as he brings war to the forces of evil threatening to consume the world. However, never forget that it is not for the sake of humanity's salvation that he wields his indomitable hammer....

Sounds

The sounds used in the narration for the demon squalls were horribly annoying noises when listening to the book. Nearly to the point of not wanting to continue to listen to the book after the third or fourth one. If possible I highly suggest removing these sounds or at very least never using them again. Otherwise fantastic story and narration!

Sometimes rocky/rushed, but ultimately good

Story started a tad rushed & seemed to just glaze over what should have been considered larger plot points in order to change the scenery quick from the first book. Outside of that, this was mostly a good entry that ended quite well.

Yeah the sounds were pretty high-pitched.

Though overall the book was good it just was that it was really high high-pitched and gave me a ringing ears for a couple hours after listening.

Better than the first

Super good, does not go off on tangents or weird thoughts like the first book did. Kept a storyline going at a great pace all the way till the end, funny at times, plus you get to see a small very small glimpse into the anti hero’s mindset

Nick Podehl is awesome

The story is cool, but after listening to another story with numerous onomatopoeias Mr. Podehl did a great job of not allowing them to come off as cheesy (at least not terribly so). I would recommend getting actual sound effects for these sections for other books that decide to use them.

Good Asian fun

I know lots of stories have things that are lost in translation. So I don’t always judge translated books the same. I appreciate the culture jokes the most. Because there’s nothing funnier than a Korean always making fun of the Japanese.

Wham!

This series is amazing. People complaining about the narration sounds are idiots they put the narration into a realm of its own. It’s a long book it keeps you entertained
