About this listen

Business has been a little slow at the Moonlight Magnolia Detective Agency, but full-figured P.I. Savannah Reid doesn't have time to drown her sorrows in a box of double-chocolate truffles. She's too busy watching the Gourmet Network - and drooling over the sinfully scrumptious confections that Lady Eleanor ("The Queen of Chocolate") whips up on-air. But someone isn't sweet on the Queen's charming chatter - and wants her to hang up her oh-so-quaint apron - for good.... When Savannah hears that Lady Eleanor's been getting death threats, she jumps at the chance to be her round the clock bodyguard. It's a great chance to meet her idol in person - and maybe pick up some free chocolates, too. But her sweet dreams melt away when the minute she meets Lady Eleanor. The woman is as rotten as last year's Valentine candy - and stingy with the chocolates to boot!

But when the Queen of Chocolate bites into a chocolate and drops dead in the middle of her own live TV show, Savannah is horrified. After all, it was her job to protect Lady Eleanor - and now thousands of chocoholics know how horribly she failed. Talk about bad for business. Savannah has to figure out who's to blame for the Queen's untimely (and very ungraceful) demise....

Perfect cozy mystery

I love Savannah Reed mysteries!
Perfect for driving. If you miss a bit of the story it's easy to pick back up.
The narrators accent for Savannah is adorable & her other voices are great!

A very nicely plotted mystery

A good addition to the series and a fun book to listen to on Audible. I originally read it and found it was good enough to revisit. The audio performance was very well done.

Savannah just keeps getting better...

Any additional comments?

Another good cozy read. I like to read these books between particularly dark books. They're like a late night dessert. In this book, we get to know more of Savannah's dysfunctional family and appreciate her strength even further as she determinedly seeks justice for all. Not a traditional detective novel, most of the important discoveries are through lucky timing, yet it's still fun to watch her in action. I look forward to more of the series.

And Death by Chocolate It Was

Where does Death by Chocolate rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Good story, got the mystery thing going and it was a great narration.

What did you like best about this story?

When the group each has their thing to do and how they bring the whole thing together.

Which character – as performed by Dina Pearlman – was your favorite?

Tammy kind of stood out a little more than the other books.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes but I didn't quit make it. It was very hard to put it down.

Any additional comments?

I did have issues with the snotty sister. It makes Savannah appear to be a weak person and easily manipulated.

I'M READY TO LISTEN TO THE WHOLE SERIES

This book held my attention the whole time. I listened to it in one sitting. I loved the characters, the narrator, the story line, the twists and turns. I can't wait to listen to another one . I'm in love with this series already.

Couldn't get through the 1st chapter.

What would have made Death by Chocolate better?

Less swearing

Any additional comments?

I couldn't get through the first chapter because of all the swearing. It's a shame that some authors do not have the vocabulary that they have to resort to a foul mouth to get their point across.
