Publisher's summary

Death is only the beginning in this brutal and bloody post-apocalyptic fantasy about humanity’s next phase.

In pursuit of his abusive father’s approval, Zeke Blackwood pushed himself to the very pinnacle of his chosen obsession. Since childhood, all he’d ever wanted to do was play baseball, and through hard work, discipline, and no small degree of talent, his goal of reaching the major leagues was finally in sight. But then a horrific car accident ruined his arm, eliminating any hope of a professional baseball career.

Consumed by depression, Zeke gave up on his future, preferring to wallow in self-pity. That is, until an opportunity came along for him to prove his worth. When his chronically ill younger brother needed a kidney, Zeke didn’t hesitate to offer one of his own—only to die on the operating table.

But eons later, after Earth has been ravaged by disasters both natural and man-made, Zeke is reborn. Guided by the mysterious Oberon, he soon finds himself in the Radiant Isles, a magical land populated by legendary creatures and horrifying monsters alike. A war rages between good and evil, and Zeke—along with the rest of humanity—has been recruited onto the front lines.

Fully healed from the wounds of his previous life, Zeke battles his way through an army of trolls and other subterranean beings, all the while increasing his skills, improving his strength, and gaining superhuman abilities. Finding allies in Abby, an archer who teaches him about his strange new circumstances, and Pudge, a helpless cub who’s become soul-bonded to him, Zeke must keep collecting victories if he’s to survive in this merciless world.

The first volume of the hit LitRPG fantasy series—with more than 700,000 views on Royal Road—now available on Kindle, Kindle Unlimited, and Audible!

This was fun I really enjoyed it.

I thought this book reminded me of a mix of defiance of the fall(but not quite as deep) and super gene. There is clearly a lot more story here. it makes me want to read ahead instead of waiting on the next audible. I highly recommend it. MC is OPish. he is verrrryyy strong, but it still very early in his development he can do things no one at his level can do. There are people and monsters in his verse much stronger than him but those are only people who have been there much longer.
MC is a Melee damage dealer thru and thru. I do hope he gets some magical abilities soon.

Took quite a while, but it picks up!

Starts well enough, but then starts to kinda tediously drag on for a bit. Thankfully, it gains momentum, and totally kept my attention. Worth the credit if power fantasies are your thing.

It’s not bad

The story is not bad. And no, it doesn’t have too much baseball analogy like what the other reviewer says. The only problem I see is that it took nearly half the book before he meets up with another person. Story is interesting though so I’m buying the next book.

I hate Abby

I also hate baseball, but mostly Abby just makes me cringe. I really hope she dies. This story could have been so bad a, but it's just a bunch of complainers.

liked the book but it was a good amount of issues

i loved the concept and mc while he was going through the dungeon it seemed like a very cautious character however soon as he meets another human he tells her way to much for just meeting her and crying in front of her that confused me more because the amount of times he said his father ingrained in him not to show emotions and just like that cause he felt alone even though he went through all he did in his previous life that barrier can just be put down just like that seemed unbelievable in my opinion. Also he just accepts the way she talks to him seeming like more of nagging then just conversing about it seems like he is a simp even when she was with Julio she wasn't so demanding and she hated that dude stuff like that just don't seem right to me. what also doesn't make since to me is how come his "soul bound" companion shows more affection towards someone who didn't save him or is actually connected to him by soul but some complete stranger cause it senses it can trust her make that make sense to me cause no animal does that right off the bat your doing stuff that wouldn't happen at all in fantasy scenarios makes me cringe at a story that's suppose to be a great read but turns it into a mc who clearly has trust issues to all of sudden whole heartly trust someone he just met when he didn't even trust his family all the way
