Mountain Survival by Christy Barritt

When search-and-rescue park ranger Autumn Mercer and her K-9 partner, Sherlock, meet a stranger in the mountains whose brother is injured, they drop everything to help. But all they find where Derek Peterson last saw his sibling is a trail of blood—and men who want them dead. With gunmen closing in, can Autumn and Derek survive long enough to save his brother?

Search and Defend by Heather Woodhaven

Undercover to track the assassin who killed his partner, FBI special agent Alex Driscoll accidentally pulls his partner’s widow, Violet Sharp, and her search-and-rescue K-9, Teddy, into the case. Now, with Violet’s life on the line, the only way Alex can protect her is to make her—and her enormous dog—his new cover. But can they stay alive long enough to bring the hit man to justice?

The convolution of the story.

Way too much god. Not enough action. The reader was good but really didn’t have enough to work with.

2 separate stories - both kept my interest

This listen actually consisted of two different books. Each story deals with search and rescue dogs. Light romance in both stories.

The first, Mountain Survival by Christie Barrit deals with a park ranger and her dog who come across a man who has an injured - and then missing - brother. They get caught up in the mountains during a bad weather system with "bad men" on their tails. I found the characters naive (believing the bad guys would evenutally let them go) and also very lucky considering all the predicaments they found themselves in. Still, for a quick read it kept my interest

The Second was Search and Defend by Heather Woodhaven which again deals with a forest ranger and her dog and the FBI agent who was her deceased husband's partner. Together they try to find out who is targeting/framing all of the forest ranger's friends. I thought this story was predictable but still it kept my interest. I wanted to see how/when they figured it out.

The narrators for both stories were very good.
