About this listen
Jason Callahan, private investigator, and his psychic partner Trina Dane return in the second installment of the Jason Callahan Mysteries.
Chloe Marsh is found dead at the scene of an accident and pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital. Half an hour later, as she is being taken to the morgue, Chloe suddenly sits up. But this isn't the first time Chloe has died, and it certainly won't be the last.
Enter Trina and Jason. They've worked on cases together before, but nothing like this. Investigator Jason Callahan doesn't believe for a minute that Chloe has special powers, but psychic Trina Dane does, and she thinks she knows why. But what of the other people across the country who have had the same experiences? How did they really die? And how did one boy (and Chloe) manage to survive? Only Trina and Jason can find the answers, but they must do so before Chloe runs out of lives.

Good premise and plot
The premise was good and the characters interesting, but the story dragged in so many places. Between that and a narrator whose quiet, breathy delivery seemed more likely to put me to sleep or think on other things, I was far less than delighted. I had hoped for so much more.

Easy Listen
Would you listen to Dead, Sometimes again? Why?
I have not read the first book in this series. I was given this book by the narrator Steven Jay Cohen through Audiobook Blast for an honest review. It is a standalone book that can be listened to and enjoyed even if you have not read the first book. I am however planning on listening to the first book now and I will listen to this one again.
Steven did an spectacular job reading this book. He had separate voices for each of the characters and the womens voices were believable.
Dead, Sometimes starts with a bang as Chloe has died and then suddenly sits up again. You are hooked and have to find out how this happened.
Jason Callahan and Trina Dane arrive in Florida to investigate and quickly bond with Chloe. They are not going to leave her until they find out how this has happened. As Chloe starts exhibiting special powers as well as the ability to come back from the dead Jason and Trina realize Chloe has far more going on.
I was entertained from the beginning of the book and couldn't put it down.

very close to being really good
I received this book free in exchange for an unbiased review, so to start the narrator is pretty good but he has the exact same pitch throughout, he does accents and they remain the same for each character and that's good but there's no higher pitch when something is Scarry or an excitement in his voice when they get excited. it's roughly the same throughout. that's a skill he can work on. did well with the words very clearly understood and you can follow him easily. tip speed him up to 1.1X so he sounds like he's speaking at a regular tempo.
the story... oh boy. so this is the second one and the first never counts because they have a whole new world to set up. this one I was expecting new characters (we got a few but lord a very few) and some repeat of the old. almost no one from the original besides the two main characters transfered over... and it's in a while new city... and isolated for most of it... it was a truly Interesting way to take the story. honestly this series is a great premise and has huge potential but the author needs to find a way to be more detailed and make sure he's not completely telling a new story. also he left the a big story plot wide open with no additional references. I suspect we'll see it come to fruition in the next book but no additional mention of it again at all... please author pick up a king book and read like 5 of them... you need it, your so dang close to really dang good. take the time to polish it off...

Loved this book
I really loved this book and the narrator paired well with the story. What I loved most about this book through it all Cloey has such a great attitude. She is my favorite character. She had some pretty funny moments even though she was possessed. Jason and Trina bonded with her that really brought the characters in a way that really brought the book to life for me. I voluntarily gave this unbiased review in exchange for a free copy.

Life!
I think the author, Patricia Lee Macomber has written a wonderful story. Its definitely intriguing and unique in its on way. I wish there had more elements for bonding with the characters but it was rather hard to do. Although, I absolutely loved the character Chloe and I was able to connect with her from the start. Chloe had this great, refreshing personality, and I enjoyed her accent. I didn't know what to think about this young girl, who could die but rise again. It fascinated me and then when Jason( private investigator) and his co-worker who sees things go to see what's going on with Chloe, they're in for a shock.
The narrator, Steven Jay Cohen did a fantastic job with his telling of this story. I've listened to many stories that he's narrated and this one is my favorite this far. I normally hear him use a deep voice for his male characters but with Jason, he sounded quite young, maybe in his twenties or late twenties. He really brought this story to life. I was able to identify each and every character with the accents he gave them all. I really enjoyed the whole coming back to life and the person or entity that held residence inside of Chloe. I look forward to more stories by this author and I always enjoy listening to Steven. I received this audio in exchange for an honest review.

Jason and Trina are back ...
What did you love best about Dead, Sometimes?
I enjoyed the interplay between Jason and Chloe. She was going thru all of this and he was able to be there to help her. It was a nice friendly relationship.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Dead, Sometimes?
At the end when Jason and Trina were trying to help Chloe as a last resort.
What about Steven Jay Cohen’s performance did you like?
I really like Mr. Cohen's work. This is the third book of his that I have listened to. His range of voices and emotions help to move the story along. He really draws you into the story.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
At just over 6 hours long, it would be hard to do this in one sitting. I would recommending this book as a weekend listen or one for a longer car trip.
Any additional comments?
Dead, Sometimes is the next book in the Jason Callahan psychic detective series. Jason and Trina go to Florida to investigate the 'death' of Chloe Marsh. In the course of the investigation Jason and Trina discover that Chloe might not be the only person who has been affected by this spirit.
Ms. Macomber continues to impress me with her imagination and writing in this series. I find Jason and Trina to be well developed characters. The paranormal in this book is not so out there that it in totally unbelievable. I can't wait to see what happens next to Jason and Trina.
I would recommend this book to those who like the paranormal genre. (ages 14+)

Getting Special Powers is not always a good thing!
Dead, Sometimes: Jason Callahan Psychic Detective, Book 2 by Patricia Lee Macomber. Performed/Narrated by Steven Jay Cohen. 6 hours 8 minutes, unabridged book. Series: Jason Callahan, Book 2. Genre: Modern Detective, Suspense, Thriller, Paranormal.
I really enjoyed this listen. This book by Patricia Lee Macomber was such a light book of the paranormal in this modern detective story that even teenagers could enjoy this listen. When I started to listen to this book I found myself diving right in from the start. This is one of the books that you want to listen to from start to finish. Wish I could have but did listen in 3 sessions. Headphones on and then I found myself inside the book like sitting at a movie theater. Sitting back and watching the scenes unfold.
What I really enjoyed was that Patricia did not go overboard with the details. Just the right amount for the scenes she was writing about. You knew at most times what the characters were thinking and going to do in certain scenes. Found myself wanting to say, ”Don’t go in there, don’t be foolish. You know what is going to happen to you.” Not that it was obvious just that each scene was clear as to what was going on.
So now moving into the book itself. There is 4 main characters. Of course, Jason Callahan, the detective, his side partner psychic Trina Dane, Chloe Marsh and the Entity. Trina pulls Jason in on a case that she feels, is drawn into by her psychic powers that this woman Chloe Marsh that was pronounced dead at the scene of an accident and then hours later sits up and is alive. The more and more awake she becomes Chloe starts developing these special powers.
Jason reluctantly agrees to head off to Florida to rest Trina’s concerns are going to be unfounded. Unfounded they were not. Jason gets so pulled into the case, as he starts to find links to other similar cases across the country. How did Chloe get these powers? From the woman at the bar she knew? Asking her for a ride home when she locked her keys in her car. While heading home to get her spare key since and she did not live far from the bar the woman agreed to take her back to her car. Then all of the sudden the woman goes and pulls over and before Chloe realizes she is being attacked by her. The next thing Chloe finds herself waking up in the hospital being told that she was dead for several hours. She was a miracle. So everyone thought but, Chloe. In comes Jason and Trina starting their investigation surrounding this case.
Jason and Trina find themselves in more than one way bonding with Chloe as friends and protectors. Trina is determined to get the Entity out of her once they have discovered through the investigation and what Chloe’s new found powers were. Chloe just wanted the powers and voices gone from her. Can Jason and Trina get to the heart of removing the Entity or spirit? What path will they need to go to get to the bottom of this case? Will they be able to save Chloe or will she have to die in order to destroy this Entity?
This book will have you riveted. Not just from the story but, with the performance of Steven Jay Cohen. I have reviewed other books where the male narrators sometimes could pull off the female voices to a degree. Steven is the first that really nailed the dialect and the voices. I was in awe over this one.
I find myself now wanting to listen and review the first book in the series. My thought is I hope that Steven Jay Cohen does the rest of the series. This book was provided to me by the author for an honest review. So all above is my sole thoughts on this book and no one has effected that outcome. Please like and comment on my review. Love to hear your thoughts as well.

How to develop new paranormal skills!
I received this audiobook for free in exchange for an honest review. That said, I enjoyed this story by Patricia Lee Macomber. The team, Jason and Tina explore a case of one woman dieing while the other runs in front of a car and experiences a minimum of 4 fatal wounds. After ENTs and doctors verify she was dead for over an hour, she suddenly sits up on her gurney. It is amazing to see the resources the team has access to. I did wonder how she would die and then come back to life. The narrator, Steven Jay Cohen, also gets a thumbs up!
