Publisher's summary

Private Investigators Troy and Eva Winters are thrilled when Troy’s sister, Sadie, announces that she and her family are moving to Elk River, only a 25-mile drive from New Haven, where Troy and Eva live. Now, Sadie will be close to her family, and with their support, they can try to help her overcome her debilitating panic disorder of agoraphobia.

Troy’s day of cleaning up the grounds around Cypress Bluff Inn after a storm is suddenly shattered when he receives a cryptic message from his 10-year-old niece, Willow. Her cry for help and the startling message that says, ‘the bad guys are here,’ sends Troy’s distress alarm into overdrive. It doesn’t take him long to realize the deadly consequences that lie ahead.

With Eva out of town, Troy sets out for Elk River on his own with no idea of the danger he’ll soon be facing. He’s close enough to Willow to know the threat is real, and the urgency in her voice confirms it. Just when a flicker of hope appears, Eva goes missing. Time is not on Troy’s side and the clock is quickly ticking down.

Editorial Review:

“Private investigators Troy and Eva Winters are working at their Oregon bed-and-breakfast inn when Troy gets a disturbing voicemail indicating that his sister’s family is in danger. Eva has just left town on a new case and finishes up early, but before she can join her husband in finding out what’s wrong at his sister’s house, Eva investigates on her own and ends up missing. North has a real knack for ramping up the tension and adding plot twists galore that keep the reader guessing.” (Angela M., Line Editor, Red Adept Editing)

Money... the root of one man's darkness

Received as an audio copy to review by the narrator, this is an honest review. David Scott absolutely does a glorious performance of this harrowing book that begins with shocking opening. The quiet life that Oliver and Sadie were looking for in Elk River is shattered as they and their children are held hostage by two unknown men demanding they hand over money that's been kept there. The author then does a brilliant twist with jumping back and learning of whom exactly the two mystery men are and deciding committing a crime involving bank money they can cash into a better a life. This "new" life involves another friend of Gabe and Adam and their current reason they torment the family; and even when Gabe and Adam succeed in their desire for the cash, their plans goes off the rails when the family is able to get a message out to relatives Troy and Eva. From that moment on Troy and Eva get caught up in a desperate game by the men that becomes more destructive with each step Adam takes to keep the money is suppose deliver alive... screw any kind of consequences. A truly great story worthy of your time.

Highly recommended.

Amazing!!

I enjoy this author more with each book of his I listen to. Suspenseful and the main characters seem like old friends by now, and I was rooting for them. The storyline quickly pulled me in and kept my interest until the end. Looking forward to more from this author. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest opinion. The narrator did an excellent job bringing the characters and story to life.

The tension builds beautifully, a supremely satisfying listen!

When four year old Finn woke his parents with “the bad guys are here” THEY thought it was just a nightmare… and it was, just not the kind you have when you’re asleep … Tense, action packed, and supremely satisfying, “Dead Man’s Money” is a twist filled, heart pounding, mystery thriller that kept this listener guessing, wondering and rooting for … well, no spoilers, but listen and see if you aren’t right there with me screaming “get ‘em”! The plot is fast moving, engrossing, ingenious and extremely satisfying! The characters are beautifully drawn, clearly defined and gloriously span the full range from lovable to loathsome, all speaking dialogue perfectly suited to their circumstances and personality! The exquisite narration really makes both the character’s mindset, and emotional feeling perfectly clear, and does so in a fabulously entertaining manner! I got pulled deeply into “Dead Man’s Money” and I loved every single minute! Five fabulous stars!
