About this listen
If the Abyss lives, Darkness has risen again. Reva has lived her entire life in secret, hiding in plain sight from a world that would rather see her dead. She has learned how to control her powers enough to escape life unnoticed. But everything changes when knights of a neighboring country arrive at her doorstep searching for her guardian to help care for the Royal Family’s youngest prince and his mysterious illness. She sends Reva in her place with an ominous message and her control is tested when she has to live and work under the rule of a kingdom that hasn’t employed her kind in hundreds of years.
While Reva tries to help the young prince battle this illness, she realizes she didn’t leave as much of her life behind as she thought. The Abyss forming in the mountains that separate her country from others has reached beyond her home. Something dark, old, and sinister is brewing, and it’s fallen to Reva and her new friends to figure out who and why. Through an unanticipated friendship with a princess and knight of the kingdom she now serves, Reva struggles to find not only her place in this world but who she really is. With Fate rearing its ugly eye around every corner, Reva learns she may play a bigger role than she could ever have imagined.

Story
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Story
It’s 1984, and life has changed beyond recognition. Airstrip One, formerly known as Great Britain, is a place where Big Brother is always watching, and nobody can hide. Except, perhaps, for Winston Smith. Whilst working at the Ministry of Truth, rewriting history, he secretly dreams of freedom. And in a world where love and sex are forbidden, where it’s hard to distinguish between friend and foe, he meets Julia and O’Brien and vows to rebel.

Story
Jazz Bashara is a criminal. Well, sort of. Life on Artemis, the first and only city on the moon, is tough if you're not a rich tourist or an eccentric billionaire. So smuggling in the occasional harmless bit of contraband barely counts, right? Not when you've got debts to pay and your job as a porter barely covers the rent. Everything changes when Jazz sees the chance to commit the perfect crime, with a reward too lucrative to turn down.

This fantasy realm was amazing!
And I really enjoyed the supporting characters!
Clint was one of my favorite characters and I love how Reva is strong, smart and super caring. She has such a big heart. Her drive is top tier.

What lies ahead!!
Oh, Darkness Comes Again! What a wild, mysterious ride you are. This first book in K.M. Davidson’s five-part series is like a giant teaser trailer for all the chaos and excitement to come. Think of it as the appetizer that leaves you super hungry for the main course.
The story is packed with fascinating. characters, just the right amount of drama, and enough unanswered question to keep you up way past bedtime. There’s even a touch of spice—nothing too fiery, though! I’d rate it a solid 2 chili peppers for book one, but the author has confirmed this is just the beginning, with the spice level set to heat up as the series continues.
I read this book through Kindle Unlimited and listened to the audiobook as well. Let me just say, the narrator did an amazing job bringing each character to life! They found clever ways to distinguish between the voices, making the story even more enjoyable.
And that ending? Whew, it’s like the book waved goodbye with a wink and said, “See you in book two!” With the second book just released, now’s the time to jump in and see where all those cliffhangers (and spices) lead. It’s the perfect start to a series that feels like it’s just getting warmed up!

If this is just the beginning…
As someone who loves fantasy, I found myself so captivated by the plot and pacing that I’d almost forget it’s an adult fantasy—right up until the moment things start to get steamy!
