Dark Shadows (December 1966)
Despite warnings from the townspeople, Victoria Winters accepts the offer to come to the strange Collinwood as Governess. For some curious reason, she feels the secret of her past may be uncovered in the bleak manor high on Widow’s Hill.

From the Moment she arrives, Victoria becomes the target of someone in the house determined to destroy her. As the wind moans and the rain lashes around the isolated Collinwood, Victoria, without friends in the manor, feels death close in on her - a choking, frightening death.

Kathryn Leigh Scott is the saving grace of this book. It’s your regular 60s gothic romance. A parallel story to The tv show
It’s not the best written book but Scott gives it her all and it was enough for me to finish the book

Possibly one of the best of the 32 Dark Shadows by Marilyn Ross novels. Well written, great story and good performance by Kathryn Leigh Scott.

Great DS book

It was an exciting reboot of the TV series written in 1966 during the series original first run. It provides new characters and a different take on this Gothic Horror Soap Opera. It was nice having the original Maggie Evans read the novel.
The only suggestion for improvement would be to have other surviving members of the original cast help read the novel to bring a different voice to the characters versus having only one person read.

I think Katherine Leigh Scott did well reading the story. The story itself kept you drawled in. Very enjoyable for the original Dark Shadows series fans.

Maggie Herself as the reader

Loved it. It brought back my childhood memories of Collinwood. The original books are hard to find but I'm so thankful they are being brought back through Audible. I've talked to Ms. Scott over the phone and at the DS conventions and I'm very glad that she was part of this.

I loved this book. I watched Dark Shadows years ago on Tv. Then I had the paper back books. I lost them over the years. The other day I looked on line for the books and found them. I love the music at first and end of the book. I love the mystery and the family. I recommend the book to anyone who loves a mystery with alittle scary touch to it. Can’t wait to listen to next book

Dark Shadows has been a favourite of mine since pre school and I still love the late 60's early 70's gothics. KLS does a great job of reading this alternate version of Ms Winters' adventures beginning.

I remember this was a soap opera when I was a kid. I watched Johnnie Depp's version of this and I just had to listen to this series. I am so glad I got the chance.
