About this listen

Immortal passions rage as evil grows in this gripping novel in Christine Feehan’s #1 New York Times bestselling Carpathian series.

Silke Vriese Reinders knows a war is coming. The demon slayer has seen it over and over again in the cards—and the battle will be for the survival of not just her remote village but all mankind. Silke knows the only way to win will be with the help of the Carpathians. A fact that fills her with trepidation, as she is fated to be the lifemate to one of the ancient supernatural warriors—bound to a complete stranger and responsible for his soul.

One of the oldest, most dangerous Carpathians, Benedek Kovak is more beast than man. He’s been locked away for centuries, and the only thing that has stopped him from becoming one of the monsters he’s sworn to battle is the thought of his lifemate. When Benedek senses the impending danger, he sets out to find her before it’s too late. But their enemy has laid a trap that pushes him closer to turning than ever before.

For so long Benedek has felt nothing. Now some dark art is compelling him to indulge in cravings he thought were long buried. He has no hope that anyone can repair what’s left of his tainted soul, but Silke is nothing like he imagined. Perhaps she’s strong enough to fight back the darkness. Perhaps together they can defeat an adversary hell-bent on destroying them all …

Refreshing

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It's different than the other ones written by Christine Feehan. The narrative was also good too. I enjoyed that there was less focus on sex and more on the story line. Can't wait to read/listen to the next book!

Good story

Great story from a series that I love. I enjoyed on both kindle and audible platforms. Just the beginning was a bit off to me but it ended strong. I just could not keep my interest at the very beginning so tried audible with it because I knew I would enjoy it. Thank you for another good story.

modernism

I wish Ms Feehan would give us a story about the ancients dealing with a modern 21st century woman dealing with difficulties of today's lifestyle instead of these plot of upcoming wars with Lilith and the underworld. I wanted more of a complicated storyline with the relationship of the carpathian hunter and his lifemate.

Great story of sacrifice

This book must have been the hardest of all the previous books in this series to write especially in this current culture climate. I realized this and it made me enjoy the book even more. I long for another dark celebration book. If Justice did get loose he will find his lifemate but the struggle will be a huge fight with many of the brethren fighting in a life or death fight to help him realize he has found a lifemate, then will come to harsh healing from his time spent in tbe underworld

Dragons and a mysterious forest

An enjoyable read in the continuing story of the carpathian ancients search for their life mates. A little more on the mysterious carpathian behind the gates and his escape adds fire shadowing of what is to come

The battle goes on in a fascinating way

I liked this book a lot. Silky was a great character and Benedic was a likable Carpathian from the start. Each area of the world was so different but the people and communities had much in common. I liked how the stories intertwined and circle around to the carpathian people and their fight for light and life. Good job Christine.

Details

The author always manages to keep me enthralled by dangling so many details just within my notice.

Loved the dragons, great romance & narrator

Has lots of action, with some very strong female fighters. So glad she got Ryan West to narrate, he’s my absolute favorite, such a sexy voice & does much better at female voices & different characters than Frangione did. I got a kick out of the demons voice, it’s the one used in like 30 something books of Ian Taggert in Lexi Blake’s Masters & Mercenaries series. When the demon said to kill them, kill them, I thought yeah just like Ian.
