About this listen

Only the night before, she rejected him. Today, she is his intended wife.

Elizabeth Bennet proved he was no gentleman when she rejected his proposal. Darcy is now determined to flee Kent and hopefully not act like a lovelorn schoolboy the next he meets the lively Elizabeth. But when she loses her memory of his disastrous proposal and a bumbling relative believes them engaged, Darcy continues the charade with the plan to tell Elizabeth as soon as he can resolve on how to do so. And yet, she may be falling in love with him....

The very idea that she has accepted the cold, proud Darcy's proposal is absurd to Elizabeth. But why, oh why, did she? She can no longer remember what could have compelled her to accept him, but the changes she sees in him begin to touch her heart. He could be a true gentleman, after all. But when his deception is revealed, will it spell the end for them?

Darcy's Deception is a full-length sweet and clean romance novel that follows a stubborn, lovesick Darcy and a distrustful Elizabeth on their path to happily-ever-after.

So the idea was good. But the story was just way longer than it needed to be. It became so tedious that I had to fast forward through parts. Not a fan of the narrator. There were strange pauses, incorrect pronunciation, and annoying voice modulations.

Ehhhh. Just okay.

I loved it. Great JAFF. The only thing I did not like as much was the narrator’s pronunciation of some words. Sounded awkward, like cravaaaaat. And chaaaapters. But all in all it was good and I enjoyed it.

Lovely story

This was pretty good. It was funny to see how things might have been different had this happened. The narration was pretty some of the voices sounded like kids or the same but I understand there are a lot of characters in this story.

The idea of Darcy, the character who said deception is abhorrent, getting sucked into a pleasing lie is a fascinating idea that must be carried out with skill. And Davies' writing rises to the occasion.

Mild spoilers, but I love some of the departures this took from the original. I love a variation where Lydia gets a happy end and washes her hands of Wickham. I enjoyed Elizabeth and Darcy having a courtship that took place completely outside of Pemberly's influence.

Additonally, the narrator was fantastic. Delightfully wry and witty, perfect to play Darcy and Elizabeth's contrasting voices.

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Witty and breezy, excellent to relax with

This pretty much kept my interest, but I thought Elizabeth was mean and unreasonable and Darcy was a much nicer person than she was. Darcy really should have left her alone. It is understandable under the circumstances that he would not tell her that she had turned down his first proposal, which she did not remember doing because she had hit her head on a rock.

I did not think the deception so bad

What a sweet story! Love Darcy and Elizabeth. There were twists and turns, and it was an enjoyable listen.
But... THE NARRATOR! She was incredible. I fell in love with the characters repeatedly.
Can’t wait to hear more from Alyssa Rogge. She’ll be one to watch!

The narrator 😍

The narrator’s accent was different - not sure how to describe it - maybe Old Irish. I almost stopped listening, but my desperation to hear another PP variation compelled me to keep listening.

Narration BAD

I think that even Ms. Austin would be partial to this variation . This was very engaging and calming after stressful day . I love the alternate path my favorite characters take to reach their HEA . 💖

A sweet story

Loved Darcy! The narrator just makes you fall in love with him I don’t know how she does it. I need her to do all the variations from kindle unlimited. Another clean story. Although very cute, I really want Stevie Zimmerman to do more spicy PNP variations. If you are reading this review, I need you to join me in this obsession lol

The morning after the horrible Hunsford proposal Darcy is on his way with The Letter and finds Lizzy dazed and confused as a rest of a carriage accident.

Unintentionally, Darcy ends up engaged to Lizzie as a result of an overheard conversation when he Carrie’s her to the Parsonage.

His “deception “ in not clearing that up immediately results in him becoming further mired in issues that may prevent their HEA. Lady Catherine and Anne meddle, one well meaning, one not. Mr. Bennet resists giving his approval. Lizzie questions why she accepts in the first place. As soon as you believe things are working out, hang on.

Oh what a tangled web we weave
