WITH A NEW FORWARD BY PATTON OSWALT

Dubbed “the most significant and controversial SF book” of its generation, Harlan Ellison’s groundbreaking collection launched an entire sub-genre: New Wave science fiction. With contributions from legendary authors and multiple Hugo and Nebula Awards, Dangerous Visions returns to print in a stunning new edition perfect for new and returning fans alike.

A landmark short story collection that put the more character-based New Wave science fiction on the map, Dangerous Visions won several prestigious awards and was nominated for many others. This now-classic anthology includes thirty-three stories by thirty-two award-winning authors, over half of whom have won multiple Hugo and Nebula Awards. Contributing authors include: Robert Silverberg, Frederik Pohl, Brian W. Aldiss, Philip K. Dick, Larry Niven, Fritz Leiber, Poul Anderson, Theodore Sturgeon, J.G. Ballard, Samuel R. Delany, and Ellison himself.

As relevant now as it was when first published, Dangerous Visions is a phenomenal collection that deserves a place on every bookshelf.

Ellison's intros and each authors afterwards. I learned so much about the craft and the process and how the sausage is made.

A great way to learn.

I like everything about this audiobook, but especially the story content itself. I also bought it as paper book. All the stories are good, and more than half of them are great. If you don’t like listening to the commentary, skip it. Just listen to the stories themselves. If you’re interested in the history of the authors and how they came to be published, then you have the Commentary. I will buy the second and third one as well. Great read.

Pre-Star Trek pre-Star Wars brilliance!

I loved this work when I was a kid. The added commentary in this version is excruciating. The New Riders of the Purple Wage needs to be read. Period.

Self-congratulatory, preening commentary

Ever! Both of them. Can’t wait for LDV. Fifteen word minimum? Am I there yet?

Greatest collections

I love classic Sci-fi.
And when i discovered Ellison it was like get into wonderland.
This collection is unique, but not only because some of the stories, but also because the preface Ellison wrote to each story.
It's worked like a charm on me - and when I encountered a boring story I tried and tried again, only because the preface is so intriguing.
the narrators are mixed -;some of them are superb, and some unbearable.
I'm continuing straight ahead to the sequel

the prefaces are worth everything

As sci-fi and social commentary goes it falls short on both. By 60’s or modern standards.

Indulgent rubbish

Many of these stories just don’t hold up. Humor changes over time and apparently so does sci fi storytelling. Many of them are predictable with limited appeal.

Doesn’t age well
