Fruits and vegetables can be pricey, especially if they’re out of season. And, of course, they can be even more expensive if you choose to go organic. You could always plant your own garden, but, maybe, you don’t have enough space outside or, maybe, you live in a colder climate. Unfortunately, not everyone lives where they can plant an outdoor garden. The alternative is to set up an indoor hydroponic system.

Story
Is bourbon the quintessential American liquor? Bourbon is not just alcohol - the amber-colored drink is deeply ingrained in American culture and tangled in American history. From the early days of raw corn liquor to the myriad distilleries that have proliferated around the country today, bourbon is a symbol of the United States. This course traces bourbon's entire history, from the 1700s, with Irish, Scottish, and French settlers setting up stills and making distilled spirits in the New World, through today's booming resurgence.

Story
We live in a world of seeds. From our morning toast to the cotton in our clothes, they are quite literally the stuff and staff of life, supporting diets, economies, and civilizations around the globe. Just as the search for nutmeg and the humble peppercorn drove the Age of Discovery, so did coffee beans help fuel the Enlightenment and cottonseed help spark the Industrial Revolution. And from the fall of Rome to the Arab Spring, the fate of nations continues to hinge on the seeds of a Middle Eastern grass known as wheat.

He was also the only non-human chosen as one of ESPN's "50 Greatest Athletes of the Century".

But Heavey knew next to nothing about gardening or foraging, and he lives in northern Virginia, close to Washington, D.C. The rural wilds, this was not. Is it any surprise that his tasty triumphs were equaled by his hilarious misadventures?

Story
Sourdough bread fueled the labor that built the Egyptian pyramids. The Roman Empire distributed free sourdough loaves to its citizens to maintain political stability. More recently, amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, sourdough bread baking became a global phenomenon as people contended with being confined to their homes and sought distractions from their fear, uncertainty, and grief. In Sourdough Culture, environmental science professor Eric Pallant shows how throughout history, sourdough bread baking has always been about survival.

Great listen
Easy and explainable listen. I recently moved into my new home so I’ve read countless articles about hydroponics but none went as in depth as this. Looking forward to finally starting my next project!

Informative DIY for any living situation!
The narrator’s voice is pleasant and easy to understand but more importantly the content is useful and goes more in depth than most DIY articles you may come across.
Despite COVID lifting, there’s never been a better time to grow plants/food in your own living space and this audiobook is a great resource- I especially liked the later chapters and found myself rewinding certain parts to take note of the best practices.
