Story
Eight true crime stories of murder and mayhem. In my first audiobook as a true crime author I've started with a few of the stories that have haunted me for some time. Some of these stories are unbelievable in their brutality while others are astounding in the stupidity of the killers. This collection of stories are from all around the globe and have no common thread between them other than that they are both thought provoking and disturbing. The stories included in this anthology are dark and creepy and will leave you with a new understanding of just how fragile the human mind can be.

Elmer Wayne Henley, Jr. was only fourteen when he first became entangled with serial rapist and murderer Dean Corll in 1971. Fellow Houston, Texas, teenager David Brooks had already been ensnared by the charming older man, bribed with cash to help lure boys to Corll's home. Corll baited Henley with the same deal he'd given Brooks: $200 for each boy they could bring him.

Story
There is little more terrifying than those who hunt, stalk, and snatch their prey under the cloak of darkness. These hunters search not for animals, but for the touch, taste, and empowerment of human flesh. They are cannibals, vampires, and monsters, and they walk among us. These serial killers are not mythical beasts with horns and shaggy hair. They are people living among society, going about their day-to-day activities until nightfall. They are the Dennis Rader's, the fathers, husbands, church-going members of the community.

Story
In the number-one New York Times best seller Mindhunter, John Douglas, who headed the FBI's elite Investigative Support Unit, told the story of his brilliant and terrifying career tracking down some of the most heinous criminals in history. Now, in Journey into Darkness, Douglas profiles vicious serial killers, rapists, and child molesters. He is straightforward, blunt, often irreverent, and outspoken, but takes pains not to glorify any of these murderers.

Publisher's summary
Amazon best-selling and Firebird True Crime award-winning author Jamie Malton, in collaboration with new author Aiden Galway, have created a new True Crime series of specially curated stories that each carry a common theme. In Volume #1: Ritual Killers we look into the minds of criminals who formed their own justifications for committing the ultimate act of murder. These killers were compelled to repeatedly follow their personal rituals before, during, and after crimes. Many believing they were protected by supernatural forces, some trying to re-live a sick memory, and others were cunning and methodical planners avoiding detection.
Listen to how detectives and forensic science identified, tracked down, and convicted some of the worst offenders known, many of whom you will have never heard about before.

Story
The book of Enoch was thought to be lost for over 2,000 years until, in 1773, a traveller brought three copies back from Ethiopia. Whether or not this ancient book was actually authored by Enoch, the father of Methuselah and great-grandfather of Noah, is an ongoing debate among historians and theologians. But all recognise the book of Enoch as one of the most important apocalyptic works outside of the Bible.

The ancient Toltecs believed that life, as we perceive it, is a dream. We each live in our own personal dream, and these come together to form the dream of the planet, or the world in which we live. Problems arise when our perception of the dream becomes clouded with negativity, drama, and judgment (of ourselves and others), because it's in these moments of suffering that we have forgotten that we are the architects of our own reality and we have the power to change our dream if we choose.

The 10 enlightening (and often humorous) lectures of Medieval Myths and Mysteries will show you how far from the “dark” times of legend these centuries were. Uncover the facts about the Knights Templar. Reveal the truth behind the tales of legendary creatures like the Questing Beast and the unicorn. Trace the events of the Black Death and the ways it altered the world in its wake, and much more. Story
Turning the other cheek does not mean standing by while the enemies of God dismantle Christian civilization and brainwash our children. Decrying the cowardice that masquerades as meekness, Eric Metaxas summons the Church to battle. An attenuated and unbiblical “faith” based on what Bonhoeffer called “cheap grace” has sapped the spiritual vitality of millions of Americans. Paying lip service to an insipid “evangelism,” they shrink from combating the evils of our time. Metaxas refutes the pernicious lie that fighting evil politicizes Christianity.

Concise and too the point
Many times true crime has a lot of filler information, but this does NOT and it’s perfect! Each chapter is long enough to get the information out to us but not so long that is makes us lose interest. And that’s a middle ground I have trouble finding. This narrator is also A++. He’s clear the entire time, at no point was I unsure of what he said. There were also quite a few crimes I had never heard of and I really enjoyed learning about them.

What makes people do this?
It is difficult to believe there is one serial killer, let alone multiple killers. The deliberate and detailed planning by these killers is disturbing. Yes, it is hard to read what they did to their victims and that some of the sprees spanned many years.

Another intriguing collection of crime stories
Another intriguing collection of crime stories. Wow, the things people will do when they believe that another entity is speaking to them or to gain power. While the stories are short, they still feature a good number of details to satisfy true crime fans.
A lot of the crimes committed involved lots of victims and sadly young children. Because the crimes are ritual based, they involved the victims suffering horrific deaths. Luckily, with these cases the criminals are apprehended.
I personally would recommend listening to the audio version of this book. Narrator, Greg Sisco does a great job of voicing these stories. I stayed in the moment and was able to stay focused on the stories.
