Diet culture is facing a reckoning, and intuitive eating has been leading the charge. The movement has taken the internet by storm, encouraging us to stop dieting and make food choices that feel good for our bodies rather than follow influencers and their shakes. But intuitive eating is missing a key ingredient: culture. Like many movements, intuitive eating has become co-opted by a select few—placing the focus on “mainstream” food while discounting cultural cuisines.

LOVED!!
Gigi! Thank you for sharing so much of yourself and your journey. I just set up my kiddos 529 accounts and I am going to set up my nieces custodial brokerage accounts I don't to have access to the money as unhinged 18 year olds. Thank you for the nudge to all the things I've had on my todo list for a couple of years.
I would definitely want to hear more of your thoughts on the investing side.
I am a licensed life insurance agent and now I can give people an actual guide on why whole life or IUL isn't the best option for them with steps and tax logic instead of just my personal opinion. Eres un orgullo!!

Excellent Practical Financial Advice
This book is a great read for anyone- not just Latinas. Because the difficulties that poverty imposes on a person are nearly universal, like having to figure out how to pay rent and other living expenses while trying to put yourself through college, the lessons in this book are for anyone who grows up financially disadvantaged. Giovanna offers practical advice, such as paying off your credit card balance every month because you do not need to keep a balance to build good credit. Her voice is soothing and her approach is non-judgmental, which makes you want to keep listening, learning and actioning her advice.

Money explained well for the Latin community
I throughly enjoyed the book and I think others will too. Even though money is often times an uncomfortable subject, GiGi manages to speak on the matter with ease and relatability. Especially for the Latin community. I found myself smiling a lot throughout the book because this felt like it was genuine advice from a big sister. If you are looking to learn more about money, I highly recommend this book. Gigi put a lot of things into perspective and gave language to the Latin experience as it relates to money.

Advice and validation from a friend I wish I had in my 20s
Gigi is reliable and is like the friend who is unapologetically herself and recognizes the challenges or nuances of growing up bicultural. I thought I would benefit from the investing portion the most but was surprised to feel seen in her own stories. This is an easy listen with actionable steps.

Although I am not a first gen my children are part of that community. I was never taught much about finances growing up & struggled financially just like my parents. I was able to identify to this book & learn a lot. I will be passing it along to my young adult children & we will be able to grow our finances together!

The doors this book has opened
Since reading this book I have learned what a high yield savings account is and have opened one. I learned about balance transfers and learning health boundaries when it comes to money and budget and family. As a first gen it’s hard to try to juggle it all and still be able to have the need/want to help others but like it was mentioned you have to put your life vest on first and then help others. This book gave me so much knowledge and confidence. I only wish this book was available in Spanish so my mom could take her own view points on it.
