Publisher's summary

A loving father.

A typical morning in the Atlanta suburbs: Businessman Rusty Sneiderman drops his beloved son off at the Dunwoody Prep nursery. In the parking lot, a minivan pulls up next to his car. The driver pulls out a gun - and shoots Rusty four times in the chest.

A heartbroken wife.

Sneiderman's devoted wife, Andrea, is devastated by the crime. Who could have done this? She is shocked when police trace the shooting to a man named Hemy Neuman - who happens to be Andrea's adoring boss.

A deadly obsession.

The prosecution accuses Andrea and Hemy of having a "forbidden relationship" and of conspiring to collect two million dollars in her husband's life insurance. But Andrea swears she never intended to kill Rusty - and that it is Hemy who's "delusional" and obsessed. With the charges against her dropped and the insurance money frozen, Andrea remains a mysterious character. Only one other person - the man who pulled the trigger - knows the truth about what really happened....

interesting based on true story

Enjoyed the description, details, voices, remarkable events, unfortunately the children suffered the loss of their father. Truth is stranger than fiction.

Not sure there is enough substance to warrant this book

This book was ok to listen to while working on a project but I don’t think I would get thru it in book form. Some repetition tho not much but the story wasn’t earth shattering. I couldn’t tell if I really didn’t like Andrea or if I felt she had been taken advantage of.
Didn’t feel resolved even though they both were convicted.

She got away with murder

I was working in an office around the corner from where this murder took place in 2010. My boss heard the shots as he waited in line at the Suntrust bank across the street. I watched the trial livestreamed everyday. It was clear to me, as it was to 99.9% of everyone else who followed this case, that Hemy Neuman was/is not insane and Andrea Sneiderman got away with murder. Sneiderman is anything BUT a grieving widow. She is the personification of evil, a vile, controlling narcissist and the puppet master behind this murder. How did Hemy Neuman know that Rusty Sneiderman would be at that particular daycare on that particular day, and at that time? Obviously, Andrea Sneiderman told him. Why was Andrea Sneiderman texting her boss, Hemy Neuman multiple times right after the murder? Why did she tell Rusty's father and others that Rusty had been SHOT minutes after the murder when police and daycare personnel had not revealed any details of his murder to her? Why had Andrea Sneiderman invited Neuman to her home 2 days before the murder? Perhaps so he could positively ID Rusty and the car he drove when he pulled up to the daycare 2 days later. Andrea Sneiderman is a terrible actress and liar! Her crocodile tears on the stand, her phony, whispery baby voice she affects for sympathy, her equally phony and ridiculous hyperventilating in court and dabbing at dry eyes was nothing more than an ACT! This woman is a raging prima donna...a self-absorbed malignant narcissist. She told her inner circle of sycophants that she anticipated there would be a movie made about the murder -- and she thought Sandra Bullock would be the perfect actress to play her in the movie. (Sandra Bullock is a beautiful woman. Apparently, Andrea Sneiderman doesn't own a mirror!) Does this SOUND like a grieving widow? Her 37 year-old husband, the father of her two children, was gunned down in cold blood in front of her son's daycare...and Andrea is ready for her closeup! It is well known locally that she was romantically involved with another man, a Joseph Dell - and Dell had been a guest in her parents' home. Isn't that interesting... It also came out during the trial that her parents did not think Rusty was good enough for their little princess. Dell is the actual man Sneiderman was in love with, not Hemi. She played Hemi, used him to get Rusty out of the way. It is very obvious Andrea Sneiderman orchestrated this murder and should be spending the rest of her life behind bars. it's been 11 years since Rusty Sneiderman was brutally murdered. Hemi needs to come clean and spill the beans - ALL of them - on Andrea's involvement. I hope they make a movie of THAT!!!

Very good True Crime book!

Wow, this was better than I expected. It was shocking at every turn. I must give what is likely in unpopular opinion: I don’t think the wife had any hand in his murder, and that she was treated abysmally bc there may have been an emotional affair. Excellent narrator and writing. One of the most fascinating cases.

Exciting

This was a difficult case for everyone. Great story telling. The dilemmas were emphasized throughout.

plodding stenography

It's about a murder but the characters are so thinly drawn, who cares? We learn nothing about the victim and little more about his wife and her lover. The author seemed to rely solely on court records and the trial. Lazy and boring.

Bland story

This was more like a well researched college paper rather than a story. I finally just googled the defendants to find out what happened and quit listening. It was well researched and documented if that is what you like.
