About this listen

They say in order to find yourself you have to go home. What if home was what you were running from? Where did that leave you? Always on the other side of the fence. Always looking in. Always wishing you were someone you couldn't be. Until one day you meet her. The one. She was my high, but she was also...My demise. (This book is a standalone within a series).

love their story

I loved their long heartbreaking love story and I'm so happy they finally made it threw all their struggles and ended up together like they always belonged. I totally relate to both of them, I've been the broken hearted codependent, who loves too much and I've also been the addict who doesn't want to believe they're chosing the drugs over their loved ones. this story was amazing BUT, i almost never got to hear it because the narrator is HORRIBLE. if you can block out the annoying sound of his voice the story is worth it.

What a story! What an author!

I found this author thru an audible Facebook page. I posted that I was looking for an author who could seriously write some angst.
Penelope Sky has been my favorite for some time but you have blown her away in my eyes!
I started with the road to nowhere and it seriously rocked me from the beginning.
After I finished that series I started from your first book on audible and haven’t stopped and won’t stop till I’m done with every book!
I have to admit I was not looking forward to Austin’s story bc I did not connect with him like every other character I’ve listened to before.
But let me say I’m so glad I did!

*Spoilers *

Ok so where to begin..
This story will hurt
It gave me anxiety (which is not easy to do)
It made my heart hurt
It made me angry, sad and happy
I loved and hated Austin I also loved and hated daisy
I wanted to scream wtf leave him
But I couldn’t
That’s how powerful this authors writing is
I’ve read about addiction and the doormat women who puts up with it! I always give up on those I can’t stand a weak doormat woman!
This is not that story
You could really genuinely feel the love and pain
she stayed and put up with his addiction until she was finally done.

My only true hate moment was when daisy did something unforgivable
I kept wishing it were not true.
That was a hard pill to swallow and keep going with the story
But again that’s what I love about this author
She is not afraid to write seriously taboo stories!
Like the road to know where
There were some horribly heart wrenching scenes that made me cry from nearly the beginning and I don’t cry
I think I cried 3 times with that story!
But back to Austin’s story
I’m so happy with the ending and I’m getting depressed bc I’m nearing the end of your stories!
I need more!!!

Now the narration
I saw one review not liking the male narrator
And I’m sorry I think the narration was great!
They had emotion and I don’t know it all was just perfect!

OMG! what a ride!

This review has taken me a while to write. This book aligns with so me so much that tears are running down my face as I am writing this. M. Robinson, you have really gone down the depths and portrayed these 2 characters so well... the addiction is so palpable that words escape me. I feel Briggs so much is this novel with her struggle of loving an addict. It's heart breaking. Austin is so lost in his world both past and present he can't see his own issues as with all addicts. The journey that these 2 go through is so transcendent. This is a must read. You thought you understood Austin in the first few good 'ol boys novels but you are so wrong! Austin hides  himself so well that the plot twists that lay ahead will send you reeling! the narration was amazing!!! I loved these 2 narrators!

It's a hit.

This is such an incredibly heartbreakingly disaster of a story. 2 kids, coming from polar opposite upbringings, colliding in the most destructive of ways. Creating chaos and mayhem in their wake.

I really loved this story and the main characters, Briggs and Austin. I felt their paths crossed in the most perfect way and their chemistry was off the charts. If I could have changed anything, I would have shaved off 50 or so pages. I felt like there was a bit of filler in there but that's all I can say. I won't soon forget these characters.

The narration was great. Veronica Pace is a magic worker. She brings you into a story and nothing about her performance let's your mind wander away. You stay captivated. Curt Campbell did a good job as well, I did feel there was a little something off. But it could be that compared to Veronica, the level just wasn't the same. It definitely wasn't enough to bother me and I will relisten to this one over and over.

Eh…

Didn’t really care for this story. Just wasn’t my cup of tea I guess. Too much sadness and I never really felt anything for these characters. The male narrator’s voice didn’t go with the male character, the voice was older than the character.
